Let’s talk about the "Bounce-Back" Lie. 🛑

I’ve had way too many conversations lately about why new mums are not "bouncing back" straight after birth. Honestly? This unrealistic expectation that social media has placed on new mums is shameful.

Your body didn’t just change; it reconstructed itself to build a human life. To expect it to look like a "before" photo in a matter of weeks isn't just unrealistic—it’s medically and emotionally unfair.

I’m officially rejecting the phrase "bouncing back." Our bodies aren't a rubber band. They're a vessel. Today on the blog, I’m breaking down:
Why the 6-week "clearance" is just the beginning, not the finish line.
The physical reality of internal healing (it’s not just about the skin!).
Why I’m choosing to heal forward instead of looking back.

Prenatal Yoga Pose of the Week 🧘🏼‍♀️
✨ Prasarita Padottanasana / Wide Legged Forward Fold (with variations) ✨

We’re taking a gentle pause in Supported Wide-Legged Forward Fold: a grounding shape that allows the back body to soften while creating space for baby.

As your belly grows, forward folds become more about space than depth. With the legs wide and the body supported, perhaps with hands resting on a chair, blocks, or simply on the thighs. There is room to release without any pressure on the belly.

You might also choose to take this shape seated, with the legs wide and the spine supported, letting the body fold only as much as it wants to. We always make room for baby first, and let the shape meet us where we are.

Let the head feel heavy, keep the knees soft, and allow the breath to move slowly through the back body. This is less about how far you go, and more about feeling supported; a quiet moment to soften and settle.

I don’t know about you, but January has felt full.
So much movement, so many feelings and yet, when I look at my goals or the dreams I imagined, some days feel like I haven’t moved very far at all.

This proverb reminds me that progress doesn’t shout. It accumulates and settles in slowly, often unnoticed.

We’re not here to sprint our way through life. We’re each walking our own path, our own quiet marathon toward becoming a little bigger, a little better, a little kinder.

Sometimes “a little” is just taking a deeper breath. Sometimes it’s choosing to show up again tomorrow.

Little by little, even that becomes a lot.

Prenatal Yoga Pose of the Week 🧘🏼‍♀️
✨ Warrior ll ✨

In Prenatal Warrior II, the sensation is subtle and steady. You may feel a gentle stretch through the front of the hips and thighs, a sense of support through the legs, and lightness through the chest as the body rises. The lower back stays spacious rather than compressed.

At home, let this pose feel supportive rather than strong. Shorten your stance, widen your feet for balance, and keep the hands resting wherever feels most natural; on the hips, heart, or simply by your sides. If the breath feels free and steady, you’re in the right place.

This shape isn’t about pushing into effort. It’s about feeling grounded below, open above, and supported all the way through, creating space for baby and trust in your body.

You don’t have to reach far, just be steady where you are.

*Remember to repeat on the left and right, in order for the body to be balanced

Prenatal Yoga Pose of the Week 🧘🏼‍♀️
✨ Hip Circles ✨

Practicing hip circles while on your hands and knees feel incredible during pregnancy, especially for releasing lower back tension.

Move slowly and explore gentle circles, imagining drawing circles on the wall behind you, allowing the hips to soften and the spine to lengthen.

This is one of the safest, most soothing ways to create space in the body.

Let the movement be intuitive, not perfect.

*Remember to create circles in both directions (clockwise and anticlockwise), in order for the body to be balanced.

Just the first gentle yes. A breath, a step, showing up exactly as you are today.

Getting started doesn’t have to be loud or brave. It can be a quiet resolve to do the things your heart has set out to accomplish for the year. It can be a slow but gradual build towards a new habit. It can be done with shaky hands and a soft heart, you just need to take the first step.

This year, we don’t wait to feel ready. We let movement create momentum. We let the body lead.

One small beginning is enough.

2026 is a fresh start. A new page. A new chance to dream again and to leave room for everything we can’t quite imagine yet.

As the new year begins, may you soften into possibility. May you trust in the timing of your own becoming. And may the new year meet you with gentleness, strength, and a little bit of magic.

I’m excited for what’s ahead, and I can’t wait to meet you on the mat soon.

Happy New Year!

As we welcome the season of festivities, may we take a quiet moment to honour everything this year has held: the lessons, the softening, the strength we didn’t know we had.

With the same full heart, may we step into what’s coming with openness and gratitude. A gentle yes to the unknown. A yes to healing, to growth, to breath, to movement.

Here’s to closing the year with intention, and inviting the next with steady, hopeful arms.

Prenatal Yoga Pose of the Week 🧘🏼‍♀️
✨ Crescent Side Stretch ✨

A soft side stretch can do wonders for your breath especially when your ribs and waist feel tight.

This pose lengthens the whole side body, opens the lungs, and creates more space for your breath.

Reach gently, keep the shoulders relaxed, and let each inhale expand the ribs. A little openness goes a long way.
