စစချင်းတုန်းက ကျွန်မက စင်္ကာပူကိုအိမ်အကူအဖြစ် ရောက်လာတာပါ။ ဟင်းချက်ပေးရတယ်၊ အဝတ်လျှော်ပေးရတယ်၊ ပြီးတော့ကျွန်မအလုပ်ရှင်ရဲ့ မိခင်အိုကြီးကိုလည်း ပြုစုစောင့်ရှောက်ရတာပေါ့။ အဲသလိုလုပ်ပေးနေရင်းနဲ့ ကျွန်မဟာ သက်ကြီးရွယ်အိုတွေကို ပြုစုစောင့်ရှောက်ရတာကို သဘောကျတယ်ဆိုတာ ကိုယ့်ကိုယ်ကိုယ် သဘောပေါက်လာခဲ့ပါတယ်။ ဒါကြောင့် ကျွန်မဟာ အဲဒီအလုပ်ရှင်နဲ့ ကျွန်မရဲ့ သဘောတူစာချုပ်တဲ့ပြီးဆုံးသွားတဲ့အခါမှာ Active Global ကို ဝင်ရောက်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။

I first came to Singapore as a domestic worker, helping with cooking, cleaning as well as taking care of my employer’s elderly mother. It was then that I realised that I like taking care of the elderly, and so I joined Active Global after finishing my contract with my previous employer.

When I first joined Active Global, everyone in the team was very welcoming and provided me with relevant training for this profession for free. I am very thankful for that as the training was very useful, especially when it came to taking care of the elderly’s wounds.

For example, one senior I was caring for had a stoma wound which needed constant monitoring. I helped to clean and dress her wound everyday, and also accompanied her for activities such as exercising and shopping. Over time, the stoma wound started to recover well and both the senior and her family members were very happy and appreciative of my care and support.

Another senior I had cared for was bedridden and had bed sores. I was determined to help her recover fully and made sure I took good care of her dressing everyday. Eventually, her sores healed after 3 months. Seeing the smile on her face again, we could tell that she was much more comfortable and in less pain now. I continued taking care of her for the next few months until she passed away.

Seeing the seniors and their family happy with my caregiving efforts makes me happy too. It is one of the biggest motivations for me to keep doing what I do here with Active Global.

Being a Healthcare Assistant under Active Global has been a very fulfilling experience for me. I first started my career in Singapore as a domestic helper where I already took care of the elderly. During this time I wished I could be a full time caregiver to support and assist elderly. I learnt about Active Global’s live-in caregiver job and I joined them soon after I completed my contract as a domestic helper.

At Active Global I remember one of my clients was a grandma who lived with her husband. Grandma relied on her walking frame to move around, while her husband was mobile and was able to engage in exercises independently. Within the first week after I started work, Grandma had to undergo a hip surgery, after which I assisted her with daily activities such as walking and toileting and also ensured she took her medication on time. After 2 to 3 months Grandma recovered where she could even walk on her own again. I was very satisfied to see that my assistance and support was so meaningful.

I also watched Grandma’s diet closely to help her better manage her high blood pressure well within the range. I introduced healthier alternatives and prepared her meals carefully with less oil and salt, adding more vegetables. I was very happy to see that this really made a difference to her overall health, gradually also lowering her blood pressure readings.

I joined Active Global in 2022 as a Live-in Caregiver. The training provided at Active Global’s training centre was very helpful to give us a chance to practice skills such as transferring, tube feeding etc. In the past few years I have learnt a lot on the job and gained experience too.

I still remember the first day of my job at the employer’s house when I felt very confused and was filled with fear. I wondered if I would be able to do a good job in caring for the client. Fortunately, I had the support and guidance from Active Global’s trainers and my client’s family was also very kind, friendly and patient with me. Over time I learnt how to perform my duties more efficiently, including helping out with simple house work and assisting the senior with her activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, eating, toileting. Eventually, my client’s daughter was also very happy with my performance in providing great caregiving support.

I am very grateful to have been assigned to this family for my first client, and making my first caregiving experience with Active Global a very positive one. As a reward for my consistent effort to provide quality care to my client, I have been promoted as a Health Care Assistant by Active Global after successfully completing my 2 year contract as a live-in caregiver and with a very good review from my employer.
