First off, I want to make it clear that I'm neither a cheat nor a scammer. I know someone has been going around spreading damaging lies about me/my brand. So I'm going to use this post to clarify my position. It's going to be a very long post, which is unlike my usual posts. If you're interested to read more, please go ahead.
Now, I've been putting up with the lies for the past few weeks. But it seems that the person who's been spreading these lies is adamant on damaging my reputation/my business brand further. So I need to speak up. To be honest, I hate to waste my time defending myself. I used to believe a Chinese phrase that says "清者自清", which basically means there's no need to defend oneself if they're innocent of wrongdoing. But this has gone too far, and it's been damaging to my business brand/FB page.
For those of you who might not be aware, my business is a registered entity with the relevant authority in Singapore. It's not a shady business hiding behind a shell company. And both my brand and FB page are new, so all the more I need to speak up.
I can't place ads on FB because a marketer has done something on my ad account, leading to a ban. And because I recognise the importance of visibility for a new brand/FB page, so I've been actively engaging with as many FB pages as I possibly could. I don't engage to gain your trust so that I can scam you, as you might have been made to believe.
For those of you who have been doing organic reach like me, I believe you'd understand how time-consuming that is. And honestly, I'd rather spend my time doing something else.
I know there are countless people all over the world who have been scammed. And people in Singapore aren't spared. In fact, if I'm not wrong, scammers seem to like targeting Singaporeans, apparently because Singapore is known to be a small but rich country. Thankfully for me, I've not fallen victim to scams. And it's not because I'm smarter than others. But rather I believe it's because of my past encounter with a money mule about 7 years ago.
Back then, I was in desperate need of a job. And I came across an advertisement from someone who impersonated a billionaire in Singapore. The person claimed that he needed a personal assistant, and so I applied. During our whatsapp chat, he asked me to purchase a SIM card and then pass him the OTP. I became suspicious, because it was totally unusual for a boss to ask a potential job candidate to get a SIM card and then pass them the OTP.
During my most desperate moments, I didn't even scam or cheat anyone. So why would I need to do that now when I'm no longer in lack?! And why would I sacrifice my brand just to scam people?!
Of course, I know there are numerous people who have been forced to scam others. They've been either kidnapped to work in scam compounds, or they've been lured by lucrative job offers and ended up working in such compounds. But I'm not one of them.
It's so easy to fall prey to scams these days. And so it's important for all of us to stay vigilant.
