Would like to share this heartwarming picture with everyone.

This particular family wanted my help to look through their coverage and ensure they are adequately covered.

Unfortunately, the elder ones weren't able to be covered due to existing ailments and age.

Even so, I did what I could to help the family in other areas of their lives such as finding jobs, bridging relationships and walking the journey of life together with them.

Fast forward, they invited me to their Mother's 80th Birthday.

It particularly warms my heart when I see families being able to live their lives fruitfully, as lovingly as possible.

I wish that upon every other family as well..

Lets continue to look out for one another during this period.

What is Lupus?

Lupus is an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation and pain in the body. Meaning, instead of fighting the bad things in the body, the immune system attacks the healthy parts as well.

The symptoms can be most commonly seen via rashes and swelling of the skin.

In 2009, I started to notice I was developing rashes on my skin whenever I was out in the sun.

Because most of my peers weren't having the same issue, I started to question why this was happening to me.

Fast forward, I got diagnosed with Lupus.

I was shocked and didn’t know why it had to happen to me of all people.

Worse of all, I wasn’t covered under the Critical Illness protection for my insurance.

So even though I had a disease that restricted my ability to earn a living significantly, this disease wasn’t recognised under the Critical Illness category. Thus, I had to pay full price for all my medical bills.

At this point, I had 2 options. To just give up and blame the world for my situation. Or, to push through and see how I can help others get through something similar.

Since then, I’ve joined the Lupus Association in Singapore as a volunteer, as well as being a Financial Advisor to educate others on the importance of getting covered appropriately so as to not face the same outcomes as me.

I hope to continue to inspire others out there and to let them know, all hope is not lost!

Hi everyone, my name is Pei Shan and I suffer from an auto immune disease called Lupus.

Whenever I am out in the sun, I will experience painful rashes on my body, especially the iconic Butterfly Rash on my face.

I started this page hoping to educate and inspire others to know that although life can be hard and unfair, we can still do something about it!

Even though I was not able to get out as much as my friends and having less social interactions, I was still able to live a fulfilling life :)

Hopefully, more people will understand this disease and help to spread awareness about it!
