During dental treatment, despite using conventional suction units, the operating room fills up with aerosol particles, mixture of saliva, blood and bits of ground teeth, bacteria and viruses, which present a potential source of infection for all present. As a dentist with thirty-year experience, I have developed a mobile system of aerosol suction called POOI and have been testing it in my own dent
al surgery. CST lies on patient’s chest and is in comparison with other suction systems much closer to the source of aerosol. It therefore sucks up the highest amount of air-borne particles and greatly reduces the risk of infection and virus transmission. The flexible and extendable hose leads from the CCT to a suction unit, which contains 3 different HEPA filters, thereby cleaning the sucked air before exiting either back to the room or outside. The suction unit can also be mounted outside.
