Real spiritual work is rarely glamorous. It is slow, repetitive, and sometimes boring: showing up for daily practice, returning to breath, apologising when you fail, forgiving again when you thought you were done. It means listening to your body and emotions, rather than escaping into visions of Atlantis or promises of effortless abundance. It means finding teachers and communities who are accountable, not charismatic salespeople.

This does not mean all New Age practices are worthless. For many, a first yoga class, an astrology reading, or a healing circle opened the door to deeper seeking. These moments can be stepping stones. The caution is in staying there, circling the surface, never moving toward the depth of self-awareness, compassion, and ethical living.

In short: New Age inspiration can be a spark. But real growth needs firewood: grounded practices, honest reflection, and the courage to face what hurts. That is where the transformation happens."

In this article, I offer a short review of Stanislav (and Christina, his spouse) Grof’s anthology Spiritual Emergency: When Personal Transformation Becomes a Crisis.

Content:
– what spiritual emergency is,
– what kinds of experiences it covers,
– how the Grofs suggest understanding and supporting them (meaning, what to do, and what not to do), and
– where the ideas are strong vs. controversial.

Relevant and more recent peer-reviewed research papers that support the content of the book are listed below.

Stanislav Grof is a highly influential figure in the study of transpersonal states of awareness. His insights and contributions are particularly valuable in the realm of transpersonal psychiatry, where his work has paved the way for deeper understanding and exploration in this field.

Minuli vikend smo na naši šoli za III. letnik izvedli seminar na temo t.i. non-location of consciousness oz reinkarnacije,
dela na karmičnem telesu (zaobljube, pakti s spiriti) in spoznali informacije in učinkovite mantre za zagotovitev obvladovanja procesa umiranja.

Spoznali smo tudi prednosti varne in lahke poti t.i. Pure Land Buddhism.

Hvala vsem udeleženkam :) za odprtost.

Po maratonskih osmih in pol urah (z odmori, seveda) preverjanja strokovnega ter praktičnega znanja kognitivne, humanistične ter transpersonalne psihologije,
