While it may seem like they’re just being lazy, there’s actually a reason behind it: cats are natural predators. In the wild, they 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 their energy by sleeping long hours so they’re ready for short bursts of hunting activity.
Even though our house cats no longer need to hunt for survival, their instincts remain the same, which is why you’ll often find them curled up in the cosiest spot they can find. 🛋️

V soboto smo bili del 30. obletnice Slovenskega kluba retrieverjev. 🐾
Na dogodku smo pripravili predavanje, kjer smo predstavili naše delo in pomen genetskega testiranja za zdravje naših kosmatincev.
Hvala organizatorjem za povabilo in vsem udeležencem za prijetno druženje.

Veseli smo, da smo lahko znanje in izkušnje delili v tako čudoviti družbi. ☺️

Albinism is a rare genetic condition characterised by the inability to produce pigment. There are two types of albinism: 𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗺 (𝗢𝗖𝗔), which affects pigmentation of the skin, eyes, and hair, and 𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗺, which affects only the eyes. 👀

Dogs with OCA have a complete lack of pigmentation, resulting in creamy-white skin with a pink nose, lips, and paw pads. 🤍

Albinism has been recorded in various breeds and is caused by different, breed-specific mutations. 🐾

Cats are said to be able to see very well in the dark. 𝗜𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲? 🤔

Their eyes are exceptionally adapted for low-light vision, as they have large pupils that dilate and capture more light than humans.

That's why cats see about 6 to 8 times better at night than we do, but still, they need at least a little bit of light. If it's very dark, they can only get by with their whiskers, hearing, and smell. 🐈‍⬛

Don't worry! Even in complete darkness, your cat still knows where you sleep. 🤭

This Wednesday at 𝟴 𝗣𝗠 𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗧 on Talking dogs with Ante we welcome Stephen Cox of Shotaan Kennel in the UK, a 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱 in the world of German Shepherds.

Join us to hear Stephen’s incredible journey and his views on one of the most iconic breeds of all time! 🐾

It’s been a long break, but we are ready now to continue with our amazing interviews ❤️ So many interesting names and discussions are planned for the rest of the year so I really hope you will enjoy it!
We are starting this Wednesday with Stephen Cox of Shotaan fame from the UK.
Stephen was born into the world of dogs and he started attending the shows from his baby age and never stopped. For his first 12 years his Dad showed Dobermanns and then Rottweilers and after that they started with German Shepherds. Kennel affix Shotaan was registered in 1984 by Stephen, his father Michael and late sister Joanne.
As a breeder/owner/handler Stephen finished 18 UK Champions.
As a handler Stephen broke many records including the 13 UK National Winners, 10 BOBs with Group wins and placements at Crufts and he handled dogs who won total of incredible 717 CCs! He also handled dogs to 40 group placements, won 17 times Group 1st and 8 Bests in Show at All Breed Championship shows with German Shepherds.
He was the owner of German VA Sezana Kahlerheide and is handler of the current breed record holder of 53 CCs Gayville Nilo. Stephen was a handler and manager of arguably the greatest dog the UK has ever seen in 3 times National Winner Rosehurst Chris and also handler of Elmo v Hughnegrab who won Group 1st at Crufts.
Stephen became a judge of Ch Show status at the age of 24 and has judged many times in the UK and abroad.

Velike pasme psov so zaradi svoje telesne zgradbe in genetskih značilnosti bolj nagnjene k določenim zdravstvenim težavam. Predstavljamo 𝟱 𝗻𝗮𝗷𝗽𝗼𝗴𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗷𝘀̌𝗶𝗵 𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘇𝗻𝗶, ki se pojavljajo pri velikih psih 🐾:

𝟭.𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗷𝗮 𝗸𝗼𝗹𝗸𝗼𝘃: ena najpogostejših težav pri velikih psih. Gre za nepravilno oblikovan sklep, ki povzroča bolečine, šepanje in postopno obrabo. 🐕‍🦺

𝟮. 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝘇𝗶𝗷𝗮 𝘇̌𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗱𝗰𝗮: zelo resno, celo smrtno stanje, pri katerem se želodec napihne in zavrti okoli svoje osi. Pogosto se zgodi po obroku, še posebej če pes hitro je ali skače. ⚠️

𝟯. 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝘇̌𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘀 𝘀𝗸𝗹𝗲𝗽𝗶: zaradi večje telesne mase so sklepi velikih psov bolj obremenjeni. To pogosto vodi v kronične bolečine in zmanjšano gibljivost, zlasti v starosti. 🦴

𝟰. 𝗧𝗲𝘇̌𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘀 𝘀𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗺: srčna bolezen, kjer se srčna mišica stanjša in razširi, kar zmanjšuje učinkovitost srčnega delovanja in lahko vodi v srčno odpoved. 🫀

𝟱. 𝗥𝗮𝗸𝗮𝘃𝗮 𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗮: na žalost imajo velike pasme večje tveganje za določene vrste raka, predvsem kostnega raka. Zgodnje prepoznavanje simptomov, kot so nenavadne otekline ali šepanje, je ključnega pomena. 🎗️
