There are things that change the course of your life! Grounding was definitely the thing that changed the direction of my life.
It was in the spring of 2011 when I attended my first body psychotherapy Core Energetics weekend workshop. In that workshop I learned some important lessons for my life. One of them was that some of the things we look for on the outside are easily found on the inside of the body.
An integral part of every Core Energetics workshop is what we called bodywork, the purpose of which is to "open up" the body and prepare it for the work. The side effect and result of the bodywork is that we could slip into different emotional states very quickly.
And I will never forget the feeling after the end of the first bodywork. When we were lying on the floor at the end, I felt like I was coming back home. It was a very physical, embodied, indescribably beautiful and peaceful feeling. I was very touched, because as a child of divorced parents, finding my home has been an issue for me for a long time. And I was surprised that I found it in the body.
Previously I had experienced "similar" feelings in various, let's call it "strange" situations. I write "similar" in quotation marks, because although these feelings were pleasant, they weren't really well-grounded feelings, but rather illusions of feelings. For example, I remember a very intense feeling of beauty just before I regained consciousness after one of the first collapses. At that time, I promised myself that if I experienced similar feelings anywhere in my life, I would simply follow the direction (knowledge/actions) that would lead to those feelings. Other situations that were also quite emotionally intense were, for example, when I was paragliding or in the past when I drank alcohol, of course if we exclude the feelings the next day.
But this time was different. My mind was wrapped around this embodied, indescribably beautiful and calm feeling for a while. Today I know that it was a feeling of grounding.
I followed my vow and enrolled in body psychotherapy training, later changed my job and began working as a therapist, continued my studies after graduation, and in the meantime led the bodywork Awaken Yourself and Your Body in my city for a few years. I just want to say with all of this that my involvement into grounding shaped my entire next decade in one way or another. I began to learn more and more about the different aspects of grounding, and the subject interested and attracted me more and more. As I learned about the different ways in which we can ground ourselves, I also learned about the different ways in which we can un-ground ourselves.
Grounding has become one of the pillars of my therapeutic work over the years. The big difference between Core Energetics body psychotherapy and primarily "talk-oriented" psychotherapy, for example, is that in body psychotherapy we don't just sit and talk. I usually start my therapies standing up.
So, I have always been particularly interested in standing. I came into contact with standing practice primarily because I was looking for ways to ground myself as optimally as possible. And I wanted to do it by myself.
What everyone can easily see is that people stand in very different ways. The fact is that each of us has a lot of psychological and emotional history written into our posture. In my practice, for example, I find that more than 90 percent of people who seek help aren't standing in a stable and open posture.
Standing is also something that everyone can take charge of and into their own hands, but most people don't pay much attention to standing.
Most people I work with soon get instructions on how to help themselves with a standing exercise at home. But here's the thing: Some people take it intuitively and follow the instructions, while others resist to standing exercises. Sometimes this has to do with resistance, sometimes they simply lack information about the benefits and different aspects of this exercise or they just crave for and expect a quick fix, which standing definitely isn't.
This is the gap I'd like to fill with GROUNDING FUNDAMENTALS online course. You can find the course on
-> www.groundingfundamentals.com
One of the main objective of the course is to give you tools to ground yourself when needed and that you master standing as one of the most effective and important grounding exercise.
At the same time, Grounding Fundamentals is designed so that anyone can learn all you need to know about grounding - and more, whether you're in the therapeutic process or not, whether you're a therapist or a client. It's a framework that has helped me and my clients achieve a deeper and more profound connection with ourselves and our bodies. This highly structured program gives you the theoretical background and practical instructions so you can deepen your knowledge through your own practical experience.
The practical exercises take you step-by-step through the weeks and give you a detailed guide into the world of your body sensations, energy and feelings. In this way you can build a solid foundation combining conceptual and theoretical knowledge that's in synch with your feelings and emotions, enriching your own practical experience and setting a strong foundation to become more comfortable with your body and more grounded.
In this course you gain access to much of what I have researched and practically tested on myself and my clients over the past decade.
Have a great weekend!
