A functioning health system is just as important as it is a matter of course for most people in Germany. They rely on them to get the help they need when they get sick or injured. However, the healthcare system is struggling with a shortage of resources. In the course of demographic change, the number of elderly, multimorbid patients is increasing. The number of patients requiring particularly intensive treatment and care is therefore increasing, while the doctor resource is stagnating or even decreasing. To correct this imbalance, doctors would ideally have to be everywhere at the same time. Sounds impossible? With the help of telemedicine, doctors can bridge spatial and temporal distances. Telemedicine makes it possible to offer, for example, diagnostics, consultation and medical emergency services using audiovisual communication technologies despite spatial separation. In the future, telemedicine can become part of medical care, especially in rural areas. Telemedicine is a user-friendly technology for transmitting data. But the doctor cannot and should not be replaced. Doctors evaluate the findings and remain the central point of contact. Depending on how telemedicine is used, the patient plays a more active role than when going to a hospital for monitoring. We design and develop customized softwares for health care providers, nursing homes, as well as private entities, which recognise the benefits of digitalisation of health care.
