📢𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀

On 8 August 2025, the Slovak Ministry of Interior announced significant changes to its Reservation System for Foreigners.
The system now offers two types of access:

✅ Authorized services – for foreigners with an activated electronic residence card (BOK) and official registry record, allowing bookings up to 60 days ahead. New booking category: Temporary Residence – Change of Purpose.

✅ Unauthorized services – for foreigners without a residence card or registry record, allowing bookings up to 40 days ahead, using personal details as before.

Aim is to improve functionality and curb illegal trading of appointment slots. Further system improvements are planned.

Important: We recommend activation of residence card for electronic use as soon as possible to access the reservation system.

⚠ The system is still being updated – we’ll share more insights after testing the new functionalities.

📢Slovakia’s New Shortage Occupation List for Q3 2025 – Published

On July 18, 2025, the Central Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family published the updated list of shortage occupations across all self-governing regions in Slovakia.

This list will remain valid throughout Q3 2025, until October 31, 2025, or until the next quarterly update is released.

🔎List is dominated by shortage positions in:
-Industrial production & manufacturing: Machine operators, supervisors, quality/automation techs
-Transport & logistics: Professional drivers
-Healthcare: General practitioners, nurses, and caregivers

Bratislava region leads with 84 shortage positions, including IT roles such as: IT Consultant, Software Architect. System Programmer
(These IT roles are exclusive to Bratislava this quarter)

Relocating abroad is an exciting opportunity—but for same-s*x couples, it can come with added legal and emotional complexities, especially when moving to countries with limited recognition of LGBTQ+ partnerships.

📌 Slovakia does not currently recognize same-s*x marriages or registered partnerships. This can affect your eligibility for residence under "family reunification"—a key route available to different-s*x spouses.

However, under EU Directive 2004/38/EC, 🛂 freedom of movement applies to EU citizens and their recognized family members. If you’re an EU citizen married to another EU citizen, or your marriage was concluded in an EU country that recognizes same-s*x marriage, you may still qualify for family reunification in Slovakia.

🌍 For non-EU couples, both individuals will typically need separate residence permits for purposes other than family reunification.

🇸🇰 🇵🇱 With calendars usually packed and timelines tight, getting everyone in one place is no small feat — but we did it! Both our Slovak and Polish teams recently enjoyed team-building events – each with its own style, but we managed to press pause on our busy schedules and come together.

The Slovak team hosted a relaxed barbecue afternoon, welcoming colleagues and their families. Enjoying time together in nature and simply being outside of the daily grind was grounding but also meaningful – supporting the local forest park and contributing to greener, more sustainable city spaces.💙

The Polish team shared a sunny lunch, plenty of good conversations, and a lot of laughter. With projects scaling, relocations in full swing, and people juggling a lot, we strengthened our team bond and were reminded how great it is to work with such fantastic people.💙

📢 Immigration Update: Slovakia Introduces New National Visa for Chinese Employees – Effective July 1, 2025

The Slovak government has launched a new national visa designed to support Chinese investment and business cooperation in Slovakia.

This visa is available exclusively to Chinese citizens who will be employed by Slovak companies within corporate groups with a Chinese parent company.

🎯 Strict employer eligibility applies:
To use this visa route, the Slovak company must:
🔹 Be a legal entity registered in Slovakia
🔹 Belong to a corporate group with a Chinese parent company
🔹 Have a clean record (no illegal employment, no tax/social insurance debts)
🔹 Be involved in or approved for regional or extraordinary investment aid or hold a significant investment certificate from the Slovak Ministry of Economy

📌 Only 1,000 visas will be issued annually – access is limited and highly selective.
