Sensing the potential of Ray-Ban, in 1999 Luxottica decided to acquire the brand and invest in its legendary image and legacy, definitively transforming it into an icon of style and freedom of expression.
Back in the 1930s, the very first Ray-Ban model, the Aviator, was created to protect the eyes of American pilots from the sun during flights. In 1937, the trademark Ray-Ban, literally "ray-blocking," was registered and sales extended to the public.
Over the years, Ray-Ban has gone from strength to strength. Today, the brand continues to push boundaries and shape the world around us, including the groundbreaking expansion into wearables through Ray-Ban Stories and the collection.
