If you need to lower your blood pressure, physical exercise is one of the best ways. Exercise has numerous health benefits, contributes to weight loss and also has a positive impact on mental health.
Recommended types of sports are aerobic activities, e.g. walking, swimming, cycling and hiking. Ideally, you should move at least 30 minutes a day.
When choosing a sport, you should consider your age, previous training level, other medical conditions, and your current health status. Your healthcare provider can advise you on this.

Blood pressure is the pressure of blood pushing against the walls of your arteries. The more blood the heart pumps and the narrower the arteries, the higher the blood pressure.
Risk factors for developing high blood pressure include:
• Age: The likelihood of developing high blood pressure increases with age due to plaque buildup in the arteries.
• Unhealthy lifestyle: Being overweight, obese or/and inactive. Smoking and drinking too much alcohol are also associated with elevated blood pressure.
• Family history: The likelihood of developing hypertension is greater if a parent or sibling has the disease.
• Too much salt: This can cause the body to retain fluid.
• Certain health conditions: Diabetes and kidney disease are some of the conditions that can lead to high blood pressure.
• Pregnancy: A temporary high blood pressure can also occur during pregnancy.
A healthy lifestyle can, in some cases, help reduce the risk of high blood pressure or help lower high blood pressure.

Hypertension is a serious condition characterized by elevated blood pressure. Hypertension affects one in four adults worldwide, and it is one of the leading risk factors for death worldwide.
Because high blood pressure causes no symptoms, almost half of those affected are unaware of their condition. However, high blood pressure is dangerous and can lead to stroke, heart failure, heart attack, and kidney damage.
Today’s World Hypertension Day is a reminder for us to get our blood pressure checked regularly to prevent hypertension.

On the occasion of today's World Malaria Day, we would like to point out how you can protect yourself from contracting this life-threatening disease.

Since Malaria is transmitted to humans by female mosquitoes of the genus Anopheles, stay one step ahead and learn how to identify them: Look for its slender body and distinctive white markings on the wings and legs.

Also, take precautions against mosquito bites to stay safe, such as:
• Wearing long-sleeved clothing and using insect repellent with DEET
• Avoiding mosquito-infested areas during peak biting hours (between 11:00 pm and 5:00 am)
• Keeping your surroundings clean and free of standing water where mosquitoes breed
• Using screens on windows and doors and using mosquito nets while sleeping

Keep an eye out and protect yourself from mosquito-borne diseases like Malaria!

Breast Cancer Myth #4: The risk of developing breast cancer cannot be influenced at all.

Truth: Many of the most important risk factors for breast cancer - such as gender, age, genetic predisposition, as well as a person's own medical history and family history - are actually beyond our control.
The risk can nevertheless be influenced to some extent by drinking little alcohol, paying attention to a balanced diet, regular physical activity, and a healthy weight. More fatty tissue leads to higher estrogen levels, which can increase the risk of breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Myth #3: Men do not get breast cancer.
Truth: Breast cancer occurs mainly in women, but occasionally in men. Many people do not know that men also have breast tissue that can transform and that it is possible for them to develop breast cancer. About 2,000 men are diagnosed with breast cancer each year.
Breast cancer in men is usually detected as a hard lump underneath the ni**le and ar**la. Therefore, it is important for men also to be aware of any changes in their breasts.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We are taking this as an opportunity to address and clarify some of the most common misconceptions about breast cancer.
Breast Cancer Myth #1: Women without a family history of breast cancer are not at risk.
Truth: Although women with a family history of breast cancer are in a higher risk group, most women who develop breast cancer do not have a family history. Statistically, only 5-10% of people diagnosed with breast cancer have a family history of the disease.
Regardless of family history, you should take charge of your own health by performing monthly breast self-exams and getting an annual checkup from a doctor.
However, if you have a family history, the likelihood that a breast cancer gene is contributing to the cause of that family history increases. Talk to your doctor about preventive measures.
