The Rokupa Maternal and Child Health Hospital (RMCH) is one of the Secondary Hospitals in Sierra Leone located in the East part of Freetown. With a population density of 28,914 as of 2022 in the hospital situated area, it receives referrals from Waterloo and its environs, kissy, wellington and Calaba Town communities.
The hospital which was initially a Primary Health care facility was later upgraded to a Secondary Hospital after reconstruction in 2019 by the Government of Sierra Leone with aid from DFID (FCDO) with an initial bed capacity of 100 after reconstruction, it was later reduced to 66 due to inadequate space in the hospital.
The primary goal of the hospital is to provide better health care services to all pregnant women, lactating mothers and children that are less than five years old. Additionally, the hospital also provides medical services such as gynaecology and emergency services, a full range of reproductive, maternal and newborn care, comprehensive emergency obstetric and in-patient and outpatient services.
