MBHS was the first school in Freetown to have a marching band. It made its debut in 1885 during the school’s thanksgiving celebrations. The whole school assembled at one point and the school band led the procession to the church. The performance was witnessed by many because it was a ‘first of its kind.’ The band also accompanied the church service, after which it led the procession to the school grounds where students dispersed. Nowadays, the band is usually made up of both past and present pupils. The Crest
The lion at the top of the shield signifies “Lion Mountains,” a symbol of the hills overlooking Freetown, the capital city in which the school was founded. The shield on which the symbols rest signifies that students of this renowned institution should not be afraid to go ever forward in life. The eagle signifies that current and former students should always aim and soar high. The palm tree symbolizes the country’s natural resources

The ‘II’ sign is the symbol of the founder Benjamin Trigaskis

The cross symbolizes the Methodist denomination of the school

The scroll at the bottom contains the school’s motto, “Laboramus Exspectantes,” Latin for “We labor expecting.”

TpLEARN. An eLearning App for Primary and Secondary Students in Sierra Leone, and West Africa. Practice using real NPSE, BECE & WASSCE past questions

04/02/2018

Before you commit to voting, fighting or arguing for any of the presidential or member of parliament candidates in Sierra Leone, ask them the following questions and use the answers to vote peacefully?
Where are your children right now?
What primary or secondary school does your children attend?
Why would you prefer to send you children to school abroad?
What have you done to improve the education system?
Do you have confident in the current education and healthcare system?
What is the name of your family doctor?
What hospital or clinic in Sierra Leone do you go to when your children or other member of your family is sick?
How much is your current salary?
Can you do the simple math that explains to me how you can buy a car, build a house, pay school fees, and take care of your family with the salary you get today?
Tell me one thing you will do differently to minimize or eliminate corruption?
What is the difference between you and the other aspirants?
Why should I vote for you?
If I commit to vote for you, would you change your children’s place with my children’s place for one week?

Guess what? The answer to those questions are public information that is hidden from you. MDAs do not disclose this type of information because it will empower the electorate. Ask MDAs, NEC and NEW to release information that is meant for the public to the public. Let’s work together to open 2018 election data.

Be smart. Do the math. Think before you fight. Think global? Put country first. The flag and map is bigger and more important than any single political party or candidate.

Vote peacefully.
Peace de na we hand.
If you see something, say something.
