Empowering Communities to Fight Against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence: The Her Voice Initiative

In the heart of Karene District, a beacon of hope shines brightly through the efforts of Her Voice, an organization dedicated to combating Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), teenage pregnancy, and early marriage. With unwavering commitment, they have conducted transformative meetings aimed at educating girls about their rights, empowering them to reject early marriage, and enlightening communities on the imperative need to eradicate all forms of SGBV.

Recently, with generous support from , Her Voice convened a pivotal gathering in Kabba Ferry Community to underscore the pivotal roles and responsibilities of parents in preventing early marriages. The community's response was both enlightening and concerning, as it shed light on a prevalent issue: the vulnerability of young girls attending nighttime village dance programs, leading to exploitative situations and early pregnancies.

This revelation underscores the urgency for collective action and vigilance in safeguarding our youth. It is incumbent upon every member of society to stand against such atrocities, protect the vulnerable, and foster a safe environment where children can thrive without fear or harm. Through awareness, education, and collaboration, we can build a future where every child is empowered, respected, and free from the shackles of violence and exploitation.

Together, let us amplify the voices of the marginalized, dismantle harmful norms, and pave the way towards a brighter, more equitable tomorrow. The time to act is now.
