‼️A Spotlight of Fatmata Bayoh's Academic Journey with the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation

As an executive director and a passionate change maker, I am profoundly delighted to share tips of Fatmata Bayoh's Academic Journey through the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation Student Baskit Fund for Education Empowerment. Her academic journey at the Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology is a moving story of resilience, hope, and timely support. Benefiting from the Student Baskit Fund, her academic progress reflects the power of intervention in changing lives. Today, as she reaches final year, it is fitting to reflect on her journey, one marked by hardship, determination, and a renewed sense of purpose.

I vividly recall meeting Fatmata sometime in 2022 at the NP Lorry Park in Makeni. She was on her way back to Port Loko, discouraged and uncertain about her future after being forced to abandon her studies due to financial constraints. The person who had committed to supporting her education had stopped showing up during the 1st semester of her 1st year, leaving her with no choice but to return home. In that moment, her story struck a deep chord. As someone who believes strongly in empowering others, I made the immediate decision to enroll her into the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation Baskit Fund for Education Empowerment and encouraged her to return home, regroup, and prepare for a new beginning.

Today, Fatmata is pursuing a BSc in Human Resources Management and proudly stands as a final-year student, an achievement that once seemed out of reach. Her story is a powerful reminder that when opportunity meets determination, transformation becomes possible. Congratulations, Fatmata Bayoh, on this remarkable milestone. As we patiently await the successful completion of her studies, I extend heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has contributed meaningfully to this venture. Your support continues to inspire hope and change lives. God bless us all. Our organization remains steadfast in our pursuit to empower more young people.

Five years ago, the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation launched the Port Loko Student Baskit Fund for Education Empowerment, an innovative initiative designed to provide young people with access to tertiary education through the payment of tuition fees and support for other essential academic expenses. Since its inception, the fund has served as a huge source of hope for many aspiring students who might otherwise have been unable to pursue higher education. Today, the Foundation celebrates a remarkable milestone as beneficiaries of the program have begun mobilizing resources to strengthen and expand the initiative, demonstrating a deep sense of gratitude and shared responsibility.

What makes this development particularly inspiring is the collective decision by beneficiaries to institute a minimal monthly contribution to the fund, ensuring its long-term sustainability and the continued empowerment of future generations. This forward-thinking approach not only reinforces the impact of the initiative but also exemplifies the transformative power of investing in young people. The Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation extends its profound appreciation to all individuals and partners who have contributed to its growth and success. This achievement stands as clear evidence that when young people are given opportunities, they are more likely to give back meaningfully and drive positive change within their communities.

With regards, Amb. Unisa Fofanah (Totti) Executive Director Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation Sierra Leone.

‼️Empowering Youths Digitally, Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation Seeks Fuel Support to Commence its 3rd Cohort Free Computer Training Program in Port Loko

Bureh Heritage Foundation has intensified its commitment to youth empowerment through digital skills development, as it prepares to begin the 3rd Cohort of its Free Computer Training Program in Port Loko The initiative, which has already attracted overwhelming interest, has seen over 100 young people apply, reflecting the growing demand for digital literacy and technological advancement among youths in the community. This program forms part of the Foundation’s broader vision to bridge the digital divide and equip young people with relevant skills for the modern world.

Despite the high level of enthusiasm and readiness from participants, the commencement of the training has been delayed due to persistent electricity challenges. The Foundation, determined not to compromise the quality of learning, has identified the need for fuel support to power generators that will ensure a stable training environment. Reliable electricity remains a critical factor for the success of such digital initiatives, and addressing this challenge is essential for the timely kickoff of the program.

In light of this, the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation is calling on like-minded individuals, institutions, and development partners both within Sierra Leone and in the diaspora to support this cause. By contributing fuel or financial assistance, supporters will play a vital role in empowering over 100 young people with essential computer skills, thereby enhancing their employability and capacity for innovation. The Foundation believes that collective action can significantly transform the lives of these youths and contribute to national development.

As a youth-led community development organization, the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation continues to champion initiatives that promote societal progress and human development. Its dedication to free and accessible education underscores its mission to contribute meaningfully to humanity and national transformation.

‼️On International Women’s Day, Amb. Unisa Totti Fofanah Pays Tribute to Extraordinary Women

Sunday the 8th of March, 2026

On this International Women’s Day, the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation joins the global community in celebrating the strength, resilience, and remarkable contributions of women who continue to shape our societies for the better. As Executive Director of the Foundation, I extend heartfelt appreciation and best wishes to all women, especially those whose tireless dedication to service, leadership, and compassion are driving community development and national transformation. Today is not only a day of celebration but also a moment of reflection on the progress made and the work that still lies ahead in ensuring that women are empowered, respected, and supported in every sphere of life.

Women have long been pillars of growth, stability, and innovation in our communities. Across Sierra Leone and beyond, women are leading initiatives that uplift vulnerable populations, promote education, strengthen institutions, and foster social justice. Their leadership and determination are powerful forces that contribute meaningfully to sustainable development and nation-building. As an organization dedicated to serving humanity, promoting societal progress, and inspiring future generations, the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation recognizes that the advancement of women is inseparable from the advancement of society itself

On this special occasion, we pay tribute to a number of extraordinary women who have supported and inspired the work of the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation in different ways. We recognize the dedication and leadership of Hon. Rugiatu Neneh Turay Koroma, Executive Director of the Amazonian Initiative Movement, whose advocacy for women’s empowerment continues to uplift many. We also celebrate Madam Musayeroh Barrie, Director General of the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority, for her exemplary leadership in national service and Dr. Bernadette Sanko Kamara, Founder and President of Berny’s Hope Foundation, whose humanitarian work has touched countless lives. Their commitment to service stands as a pillar of hope and inspiration for many young women.

We also proudly acknowledge Madam Ashmawo Bangurah, Founder and President of the Emauni Foundation, Madam Khadija Baby Jalloh in the United States for her continued support to community initiatives, Madam Rugiatu Kemoh Dumbuya, Lands Commissioner of Port Loko District, and Princess G. Amara, Principal of Amazonian Bi-Lingual Secondary School, whose dedication to education is shaping the leaders of tomorrow. Our appreciation further extends to Madam Haja Ramtulai Kamara, Executive Member of the Sierra Leone Football Association, whose contribution to sports leadership highlights the expanding roles of women in national development. Each of these women represents courage, commitment, and the transformative power of female leadership.

As we celebrate, we also remember with deep respect the late Baby Blues of blessed memory, whose legacy continues to inspire those who knew and admired her work. Her life reminds us that the impact of dedicated individuals never fades but lives on in the communities they touched. On behalf of the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation, I salute all women today and encourage continued collaboration, unity, and determination as we work together to build stronger communities and a more inclusive nation. Happy International Women’s Day to all women, may your voices remain strong, your contributions recognized, and your impact everlasting.

‼️Wishing you a blessed birthday, Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara- AKK

Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation

Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara’s birthday is a moment of deep appreciation and reflection for the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation and all who believe in the promotion of heritage, service, and community development. As Executive Director of the Foundation, I extend warmest birthday felicitations to a leader whose commitment to national progress and grassroots empowerment continues to inspire many. Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara holds a special place in the history of our institution as the first distinguished personality to embrace and support the vision of the Annual Bai Bureh Service Delivery Awards in 2018. At a time when the idea was still in its formative stage, his encouragement and endorsement gave the initiative the credibility and confidence it needed to grow into a platform that celebrates excellence in public service.

Over the years, Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara has demonstrated dedication to initiatives that promote community engagement, cultural preservation, and responsible leadership. His belief in the mission of the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation has strengthened our resolve to recognize individuals and institutions that contribute meaningfully to national development. Through his guidance and moral support, the Foundation has continued to expand its programs and outreach, ensuring that the legacy of Bai Bureh remains a symbol of courage, unity, and service to the people. It is, therefore, fitting to recognize him not only as a supporter but as a strong pillar whose influence has helped shape many of our development initiatives.

On this special occasion, the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation celebrates Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara for his leadership, generosity of spirit, and steadfast belief in community-driven progress. We wish him continued good health, wisdom, and greater accomplishments in the years ahead. May this birthday mark another chapter of impactful service and meaningful contributions to Sierra Leone. As a foundation, we remain grateful for his partnership and look forward to strengthening the shared vision of honoring excellence, preserving heritage, and promoting service delivery across the nation.

‼️Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation Applauds Mrs. Rugiatu Kemoh Dumbuya for Remarkable Support

Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation has applauded Mrs. Rugiatu Kemoh Dumbuya for her invaluable contributions toward the growth and sustainability of the Foundation, particularly in supporting the Annual Bai Bureh Service Delivery Awards. In recognition of her commitment and belief in the Foundation’s vision, the Executive Director and his team presented her with a Certificate of Appreciation. The gesture reflects the Foundation’s culture of acknowledging individuals who have played significant roles in advancing its mission of community development and youth empowerment.

The certificate was initially scheduled to be presented during the Foundation’s 8th Service Delivery Awards Ceremony held on 13th December 2025. However, due to unavoidable circumstances, Mrs. Dumbuya was unable to attend the prestigious event. Despite her absence, the Foundation ensured that the recognition reached her, emphasizing that appreciation should not be limited by circumstance. The awards ceremony itself marked another milestone in the Foundation’s continued effort to celebrate service, leadership, and dedication to national development.

According to Amb. Unisa Totti Fofanah, Executive Director of the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation, Mrs. Rugiatu Kemoh Dumbuya was among the very first set of personalities who believed in the concept of the Service Delivery Awards when it was introduced in 2018. He disclosed that during the maiden stages of the initiative, her encouragement and support were instrumental in laying a solid foundation for its implementation. That inaugural event notably featured Mr. Mohamed N'fah Alie Conteh as Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker, setting a strong precedent for what has now become a respected annual platform.

“If today we are making progress, it is equally important to remember those who stood with us at the beginning,” Amb. Fofanah remarked. His statement underscored the Foundation’s recognition of loyalty, vision, and early partnership. He highlighted that sustainable growth is built not only on present achievements but also on the sacrifices and commitments made by supporters during challenging beginnings.

In her response, Mrs. Rugiatu Kemoh Dumbuya expressed heartfelt gratitude to the foundation members and extended appreciation on behalf of Mr. Mohamed N'fah Alie Conteh. She described the award as a huge and pleasant surprise, noting that she had not expected such recognition years after her initial support. “This is amazing, and I wholeheartedly accept this honor in good faith. I am proud that the Foundation is making significant progress in supporting deprived communities and promoting youth empowerment. I encourage the team to keep up the good work,” she stated. Her remarks reflected humility, encouragement, and continued confidence in the Foundation’s transformative impact.
