In December 2024, we proudly published a groundbreaking case report titled *"Spontaneous Splenic Rupture: A Rare Complication of Concurrent Malaria and Dengue Infections- Case Report* ." We operated this case in Borama Regional hospital where we have performed total Splenectomy. This report unveils the exceptional and rare occurrence of spontaneous splenic rupture in a patient battling both malaria and dengue, significantly enriching the medical community's understanding of this unique clinical phenomenon.
Shortly thereafter, in January 2025, a group of insightful researchers from Iran contributed a thought-provoking commentary titled "Comments on 'Spontaneous Splenic Rupture: A Rare Complication of Concurrent Malaria and Dengue Infections โ A Case Report." They highlighted the rarity of our findings and thoughtfully critiqued our diagnostic methodologies and management strategies, sparking a vibrant discussion about our case. They published these on the same journal we published.
In a spirited response, we auth**ed a follow-up paper titled "Response to Comments on 'Spontaneous Splenic Rupture: A Rare Complication of Concurrent Malaria and Dengue Infections โ A Case Report," published in May 2025. This response not only clarifies our diagnostic and management choices but also underscores the significance of our findings in light of the critiques raised.
This dynamic exchange exemplifies the power of collaborative discourse in advancing medical knowledge and enhancing clinical practices related to rare infectious complications. Together, we are paving the way for improved patient care and a deeper understanding of these challenging conditions.
