Together with Centre for Peace and Democracy - CPD SSF completed the construction of the Mother and Child wing at the Galkayo South Hospital and a Women’s’ Peace Centre to serve the communities in Galkacyo.

SSF recently handed over the two new establishments to the Mayor of Galkayo, Hersi Barre, and to the Galmudug Assistant Minister for Health, Mahad Caabi Ciise, who launched the official openings.

On Tuesday 5th August, the Puntland President H.E Said Abdullahi Deni, visited and inspected the ongoing tarmacking and rehabilitation of the Galkacyo roads which are financed by the Somalia Stability Fund. The roads aim to improve the access and movement of people and goods between North and South Galkacyo and essentially boost the unity and peace amongst the communities living in Galkacyo city.

Puntland President H.E Said Abdullahi Deni recently launched the newly constructed Galdogob Market, the Galdogob Police Station plus more than 220 solar street lights installed across the city. SSF and CARE In Somalia/Somaliland hope these new investments will enhance the local economy and also support peace and stability.

SSF in partnership with Dialog Forening, are delighted to announce that we have distributed 60 beekeeping kits and established a Beekeeping Cooperative for 300 households in Luuq district. The beneficiaries have received hands-on training to improve their beekeeping skills. Hopefully this will generate opportunities in beekeeping ventures and improve household incomes.

With support from the Somalia Stability Fund and Somali One Organisation, youth from Barawe have started to clean up the beaches around the historic town. This initiative engages the youth via cash for work and aims to support the community’s incomes and livelihoods during the COVID-19 pandemic.
