The knowledge, skills, and experiences that the team gained from community development activities, impelled them to establish this organization. SOMCCO is an organization whose aim is to respond effectively to the challenges surrounding, facilitating healthcare, training for youth, drafting development initiatives, facilitating emergency relief for natural and manmade disasters, To provide emergency relief to the needy Somali children from poor families and even the unfortunate children drug addicts where ever they might be in the country, To support street children, disabled children, and orphans, through providing free meals, education, healthcare, with different skills and sheltering, improving sustainable food security that will create economic opportunities to the vulnerable and marginalized groups within the Somali communities, promoting peace building and developing Integrated Health services. Initially, growing health threats, large-scale food security crisis and the expanding HIV/AIDS disaster in Africa were among the most serious concerns for SOMCCO’s developed strategies to define roles, responsibilities and expected results for the coming years. Health in the community is the first core intervention area for the organization.
