🟧 Day 2: The Reality Behind the Numbers 🟧

Today marks Day 2 of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. NAHSAS Somalia, through SCORA, continues to shine a light on the global crisis facing women and girls.

⚠️ The Hard Truths: We often hear statistics, but let these numbers sink in:
🔸 1 in 3 women worldwide (approx. 840 million) have experienced physical or sexual violence.
🔸 263 million+ women have faced sexual violence at least once.
🔸 316 million women were subjected to violence in just the last 12 months.

Because so many cases go unreported, the reality is likely even more severe. These are not just data points on a screen—they are our mothers, our sisters, our colleagues, and our future leaders.

💡There is Hope. GBV is Preventable. Violence is not inevitable. By challenging harmful norms and strengthening protection systems, we can build a safer Somalia.

As NAHSAS Somalia & SCORA, we pledge to:
✅ Empower medical students with the right training.
✅ Advocate for survivor-centered healthcare.
✅ Engage our communities to change the narrative.
✅ Support national efforts to eradicate GBV.

Join us in wearing Orange and raising your voice. Your action can change a life.

📢 NAHSAS–Somalia | SCORA Launches the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence 💜

NAHSAS–Somalia, through its Standing Committee on Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights (SCORA), proudly joins the global community in launching the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence from November 25 to December 10.

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) remains one of the most widespread and silent human rights violations affecting women, girls, and vulnerable groups across Somalia and the world.
This must end.

This year’s global theme:
👉 UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls

In Somalia, digital spaces are becoming vital for learning, connection, and empowerment—yet many women and girls continue to face online harassment and abuse.

📌 No woman or girl should be silenced online or offline.

Throughout these 16 days, NAHSAS–Somalia and SCORA will:
✨ Raise awareness
✨ Educate communities
✨ Advocate for safety, dignity, and gender equality
