🇬🇧 🇺🇳 Strengthening Partnership

Today, Acting Assistant Secretary-General and Head of UNSOS, Ms. Qurat-ul-Ain Sadozai, received Colonel Richard Grover, Commander of the UK in Somalia Military Mission, at the UNSOS camp.

The visit concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding formalizing UNSOS support services and the UK Military Mission’s residency within the camp, reinforcing coordination and operational cooperation in support of peace and stability in Somalia.

📍Beledweyne | 🚒✈️ Strengthening Emergency Response

11 firefighters from the Beledweyne Firefighter Community Service & the Somalia Civil Aviation Authority ( ) have successfully graduated from a 4-week Aviation Rescue & Firefighting ( ) course delivered by UNSOS Aviation at Beledweyne Airport.

A total of 2️⃣2️⃣ local firefighters have been trained under this capacity-building initiative, aligned with international aviation safety standards, equipped & ready to:
🔹 Respond effectively to airport emergencies
🔹Strengthen fire prevention measures
🔹 Apply life-saving rescue techniques
🔹 Enhance safety at airports and in surrounding public spaces

➡️ Assist with data consolidation and dissemination of relevant security information required for the analysis of the security situation by the Chief Security Officer and Head of the Unit.

1⃣8⃣ officers from the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia-AUSSOM Uganda People’s Defence Force ( 🇺🇬) contingent completed 2 specialized courses—Kitchen Hygiene & Food Safety, and Field Kitchen Diesel Operator Training organized by UNSOS 🇺🇳 in 🇸🇴.

The training covered key operational areas, including:

✅ Food safety standards & kitchen hygiene protocols
✅ Hazard identification and waste management
✅ Fire safety procedures and effective communication
✅ Safe operation and maintenance of field kitchen diesel equipment

This effort strengthens safe food preparation, enhances operational efficiency, and supports standardized, mission‑wide food service practices.
