From Maharaja Tony Nader:
Dear movement family,
It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of Dr. Bevan Morris.
He has been in Fairfield for the last few months, and he passed peacefully on Thursday evening in the company of loving, enlightened friends.
Details about the celebration of his life will be announced soon.
Dr. Morris was one of the greatest leaders of Maharishi's worldwide Transcendental Meditation organization. From the moment he learned Transcendental Meditation — as a teenager in Adelaide, Australia, in 1968, instructed by Maharishi personally — he dedicated his life to serving Maharishi and advancing Maharishi's programs across the globe.
He worked directly with Maharishi for many years and traveled with Maharishi to locations all over the world. He visited more than 120 countries, meeting with leaders in education, government, business, and other areas to tell them about Consciousness-Based Education, Maharishi International University, and Maharishi's programs to create world peace.
In the summer of 1979, Dr. Morris led the First Annual World Peace Assembly, Amherst, Massachusetts, with 2,500 Yogic Flyers — then helped oversee the move, at Maharishi’s urging, by more than 800 course participants to Fairfield, greatly expanding the size of the coherence-creating group at MIU.
He served as president of Maharishi International University for 36 years, from 1980 to 2016, overseeing its enormous expansion during that period.
He oversaw the construction of the two Golden Domes of Pure Knowledge between 1979 and 1982.
He led the historic three-week Taste of Utopia Assembly at the end of 1983 and the beginning of 1984, which brought together 8,000 Yogic Flyers from 46 countries to create a worldwide wave of positivity and harmony, dramatically demonstrating the power of the Maharishi Effect to create world peace.
He served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Maharishi School for many decades was a major force in the construction of the main school building, Hopson Hall, in 1989.
From 2000 forward, he oversaw the reconstruction of much of the MIU campus, including the demolition of dozens of old buildings and the construction of many new buildings designed in accordance with Maharishi Stapathya-Veda architecture.
Since 2005, he has been the Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, the entity that oversees the expansion of Maharishi's programs worldwide.
He was known for the profound depth of his knowledge of Maharishi Vedic Science and for the eloquence with which he expressed it, and he was awarded the first doctoral degree in Maharishi Vedic Science by Maharishi.
He was also known for his great heart, for the personal care and support he quietly gave to so many people over many years.
We honor and celebrate Dr. Morris for his extraordinary lifelong service to Maharishi, for his steadfast leadership of the University, for his countless remarkable achievements, for his colleagueship and friendship, and above all for the example of his life, dedicated to the supreme values of knowledge, service, and enlightenment. His memory will continue to inspire us for generations to come.
Jai Guru Dev
