Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs).
What you need to know. And
Why did I choose a topic like Kalazar as my research proposal ?

Before getting into some medical information or craps let me tell you that my research proposal was criticized and contradicted by many people including my friends, supervisor and even the health workers in the hospital.
So NTDs:
refers to infectious diseases which have been classified as of no significant importance in terms of funding or attention, mostly affecting the poor people living in tropical and subtropical regions like junubeen, due to the neglection by the world health organization and other humanitarian organizations resulted in their tendency to create outbreaks and high rate of mortality, it's like knowing that harmful petroleum gases can affects people but you ignore it, so harmful health effects arise.
So one of the most fatal NTDS in Africa is kalazar (Visceral leishmaniasis) which is endemic in South Sudan and it control is only being funded by MSF so far (doctors beyond borders) since 1980s in Upper Nile state, Unity State and Jonglei.
All the NTDS in the world exist in South Sudan according to "south sudan NTDs master plan 2023".
Examples of NTDs.
1. Leishmaniasis (KALA-AZAR) my topic.
2. Leprosy (Hansen’s Disease)
3. Lymphatic Filariasis (causes elephantiasis)
4. Onchocerciasis (river blindness)
5. Schistosomiasis (snail fever)
6. Soil-Transmitted Helminths (intestinal worms like hookworm, roundworm, whipworm)
7. Trachoma (a leading cause of infectious blindness)
8. Human African Trypanosomiasis (sleeping sickness)
9. Chagas Disease
10. Dengue and Chikungunya
11. Buruli Ulcer
12. Guinea Worm Disease
13. Echinococcosis
14. Foodborne Trematodiases
15. Scabies and other ectoparasites
16. Mycetoma, chromoblastomycosis, and other deep mycoses
17. Snakebite envenoming (added to the WHO list in 2017).

BOTTOM LINE: Just because some diseases are neglected "ignored" they become a very serious health concerns, in some health settings kalazar is misdiagnosed as malaria and when Identified there is lack of training and resources to adequately manage the disease. Therefore, there is a need to notify Ministry of health, Organizations.....e.t.c
That's the reason why I choose the disease as my research topic while persuing my diploma.
