Key points about anaemia:
Anaemia is very common in pregnancy, affecting up to 40–50% of pregnant women globally, primarily due to increased iron demands from the growing fetus and expanded maternal blood volume.

Main Causes: The most frequent cause is iron deficiency, but it can also result from folate or vitamin B12 deficiency, chronic diseases, or inherited blood disorders like thalassemia.

Risks and Management: Untreated anaemia in pregnancy can lead to complications such as preterm birth, low birth weight, and maternal fatigue. Management typically includes dietary counseling, oral iron supplements, or intravenous iron in severe cases.
