Farm Community Organization joint GOPA and giz - Yei River county in celebration of the international women's day. Women in Yei have proved to be the champions in fostering agribusiness in Yei, 80% of the agricultural related businesses in Yei are controlled by women, women take higher risks to access markets in Lasu, ombasi, Mugwo, senema and some parts of Morobo county to supply food to Yei town and Juba. However women face a lot of challenges in their straggle; that includes insecurity, luck of entrepreneurship skills, financial limitations, no government or aid agribusiness programs for these women and the inflation among others. To add on, gender based violence remains a pandemic in Yei. Cases of r**e are now moving from the army to the hands of civilian perpetrators due to the vacuum of Justice caused by the insecurity around Yei.

Girl child marriage is still a disease in Yei, information from a Dr. Dinya Peter practicing at Yei civil hospital, says most of mothers giving birth are teenage mothers from the age of 14-17 making nearly 60% of labor cases they receive.
