June 21 marks the longest day in the year and December 21 is the longest night. Both dates invite us to reflection and self observation because the longest day symbolizes light (the light of the knowledge, or better yet: self knowledge.) and the longest night symbolizes the darkness (the darkness of the ignorance of the Self). But how can we appreciate light without the darkness? How can we distinguish darkness without it opposite?. That is the duality of the universe we knows, the contrasts are just a spectrum of the oneness, of the same energy that creates everything.
That is because there is something behind duality as we can appreciate: behind the turbulence of our times is the latent spirit of peace, behind the wars there is the latent sense of brotherhood, behind tension and chaos there is the feeling of hope and order. It’s inevitable, we as humans experience the full spectrum. However, don’t get stuck, don’t loose your faith. Specially in yourself.
Gift to yourself the space to self reflection during this agitated holidays, give yourself the opportunity of the solitude and the contemplation trough meditation and gratefulness. After all, this precise moment (even when you’re reading this), is the perfect sum of decisions that you’ve done before.
Turn your sight into your own heart, and during this holidays I invite you to just appreciate. I’ll se you in class in January, just in a few days.
