On the International Day of the Midwife, Humanitarian & Resident Coordinator in Syria, Nathalie Fustier, visited the Midwives School in .

Through the UN Joint Programme, & supported the rehabilitation & equipping of the school, helping make sure future generations of trained community midwives are ready to support their communities.

UNFPA also continues to support beyond training institutions—through hands-on training, essential medical & reproductive health supplies, and opportunities to connect and learn.

تكريم 16 قابلة تقديراً لجهودهن في رعاية الأمهات والمواليد

📍في #دمشق، أحيت وزارة الصحة اليوم العالمي للقابلات فعالية بعنوان: “القابلات.. تاريخ ما زال ينبض بالحياة”، تم خلالها تكريم 16 قابلة من مختلف المحافظات، تقديراً لجهودهن في دعم صحة الأمهات و المواليد.

من جانبها، قالت سفيرة السويد في لبنان و القائمة بالأعمال في سوريا جيسيكا سفاردستروم: "نؤمن بأن دعم القابلات يساهم في تحسين حياة النساء و الأسر و المجتمعات في جميع أنحاء سوريا."

و أشارت ممثل صندوق الأمم المتحدة للسكان، انشراح أحمد، أنه تم في 2025 إعادة تأهيل مدرستي دمشق و اللاذقية للقبالة، مع خطط للتوسع في 5 مدارس إضافية في حلب، و القلمون، و دير الزور، و حمص، و إدلب خلال 2026، إلى جانب تزويدها بالمعدات و المواد التعليمية.

و أكد وزير الصحة، د. مصعب العلي، أن القابلات يشكّلن ركيزة أساسية في النظام الصحي، و يساهمن بشكل مباشر في خفض وفيات المواليد، و خاصة في المناطق النائية.

الاستثمار في القابلات هو استثمار في كل أم و مولود و عائلة.

30 عاماً من العطاء… كقابلة قانونية في #القامشلي، كانت دائماً إلى جانب النساء في لحظات الولادة و الحياة.

و اليوم، و مع فريق جوال ، بدعم من صندوق الأمم المتحدة السكان، تواصل رسالتها لتصل إلى كل امرأة حامل في القرى و المناطق النائية، حيث لا مستشفيات و لا أطباء ، لكن الأمل لا يزال حاضراً.

ينقذن الأرواح و يضمنّ ولادة آمنة، لكن بالرغم من ذلك لا تحظى القابلات بالدور القيادي و المؤثر الذي يستحققنه، و يواجهن العديد من حواجز النوع الاجتماعي . كما أن مهنة القبالة لا تتلقى التمويل الكافي الذي يليق بدورها المركزي في الحفاظ على صحة الأمهات و سلامة الأطفال.

في ، نؤكد أن الاستثمار في القابلات هو استثمار في حياة الأمهات و الأطفال و في أنظمة صحية أكثر قوة و عدالة.

The Humanitarian & Resident Coordinator in , Nathalie Fustier, visited a UNFPA-supported comprehensive emergency obstetric & neonatal care facility in Qah, in .

This vital facility serves around 400,000 people, including 140,000 internally displaced persons across 115 sites in the area.

During her visit, Ms. Fustier met with health workers & mothers, listening to their stories, challenges, and resilience.

Remarkably, 95% of the 115 staff members are themselves internally displaced persons, reflecting the strength of community-led humanitarian response.

From neonatal intensive care units & operating theatres to maternity wards & laboratories, the facility continues to deliver essential services for women & newborns—bringing care closer, even in the most difficult settings.
