We are so excited for our new drying shed. This is phase 2 of our Mongi workshop development plan. Here is where all botanicals wild foraged and harvested from our now (almost) mature permaculture garden (which was phase 1) will be dried and separated for our loose leaf 🍃 teas and tinctures. Look out for phase 3 soon…

“The Forgotten Seed” is a theme that speaks to memory, resistance, and regeneration. It reminds us that traditional seeds are not just about agriculture — they are vessels of ancestral knowledge, land-based spirituality, and cultural identity. Each seed carries stories of survival, ceremony, and innovation.

In curating this theme, we wanted to acknowledge the erasure that has happened through colonial and industrial food systems — and respond by reclaiming Ancestral Intelligence as a living, dynamic presence. This is about remembering who we are, through what and how we eat. It’s about returning dignity to the seeds, the soil, and the stewards who have kept them alive.

Exactly 1 week today we built a seed silo in collaboration with of in community with and . This is in honour of the forgotten seeds and preservation of indigenous knowledge and heritage. A food sovereign project set in motion, a spiritual connection activated and hope restored for future generations. We are still basking in the crux of this portal and invigorated by the possibilities still to be realised. Siyabonga 🤎

The month of June is known as INHLABA in siSwati, it derives its name from the aloes (inhlaba) that start to flower at this time . Come July, they are in full bloom across eswatini. This is one of our favourite things about the Southern African Winter season.

At Mongi we harvest and dry the flowers to add to our immune boosting teas and tinctures to help combat immune and digestive problems.

This year we got to extend our product offering in the Barn Marketplace to include an express spa using exclusively Mongi cleansing and skin conditioning range. It was so incredible to have so many people interact with the stall and humbling to receive all the positive feedback. Also a highlight was having the right honorable Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister Make Thuli Dladla pay us a visit. Our hearts are full from the recognition of our work and we are so honored to keep advancing Eswatini’s rich indigenous knowledge, botanical wealth and wellness to the world. Siyabonga kakhulu 🤎
