As part of her week-long mission to Eswatini, Julianna Kohler, Grants Officer Representative from the U.S. State Department, visited Piggs Peak Government Hospital to gain firsthand insight into service delivery on the ground.
Piggs Peak holds strategic importance as the pilot site for the Client Management Information System (CMIS) inpatient module, a key component of Eswatini’s digital health transformation.
During the engagement, clinicians shared positive feedback on CMIS, highlighting improvements in workflow efficiency, data accuracy, and service delivery. Dr. Brian, a senior physician at the facility, emphasized how real-time access to comprehensive patient histories strengthens continuity of care, reducing reliance on patient recall and minimizing information gaps. He also noted how digitization eliminates challenges associated with illegible handwriting and improves reporting accuracy.
Through the Ministry of Health, the Health Management Information System (HMIS), and with technical support from the Data.FI Project, a global U.S. State Department funded mechanism, Eswatini continues to advance integrated digital systems that enhance both service provider experience and patient outcomes.
