"A male nurse screened me at the Zombodze Clinic and referred me to Mathangeni clinic where I was screened by a Doctor. He took samples to Mbabane Government Hospital (laboratory) and confirmed that I have cancer.

I was later transferred to the Mbabane Government hospital for chemotherapy.
It was not easy. There were times when I wondered why me? Then I went to The Luke Commission, and they confirmed likewise. I thereafter started the chemotherapy at Manzini Government Hospital. I did my CT scan at Mbabane to ascertain the gravity of the issue. I was at Stage 1 B. So, I completed that and waited a year to continue with my treatment in SA. However, I was still receiving medications in Eswatini..

In 2024, I went to SA for more treatment and returned to more palliative care. I've been treated, and I'm well. Now I do my checkups at Moneni.
My request is for more support, especially for those who are unable to afford the medical journey. I thank you and appreciate your support.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of early detection, treatment, and support for those affected by breast cancer. This year, the theme is โ€œTogether letโ€™s close the cancer care gap,โ€ highlighting the need for increased access to quality care for all individuals facing this disease.

Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women worldwide, impacting not only the physical health but also the emotional well-being of those diagnosed. Despite significant advancements in research and treatment options, disparities in cancer care still exist, preventing many individuals from receiving the care they need.

One of the key factors contributing to the cancer care gap is access to screening and early detection services. Regular mammograms and clinical breast exams are essential in detecting breast cancer at an early stage when treatment is most effective. However, not everyone has equal access to these vital screening services due to various barriers such as lack of insurance, limited resources, or geographic location.

In addition to screening barriers, disparities in cancer care can also arise from differences in treatment options, quality of care, and support services available to patients. It is crucial that we work together to address these disparities and ensure that all individuals, regardless of their background or circumstances, have access to timely and appropriate cancer care.

By coming together as a community, we can close the cancer care gap and provide support to those affected by breast cancer. Whether it's through educational initiatives, fundraising efforts, or simply offering a listening ear to someone going through treatment, each of us can make a difference in the lives of those impacted by this disease.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, let's stand united in our commitment to closing the cancer care gap and ensuring that everyone receives the care and support they deserve. Together, we can make a difference and bring hope to those facing breast cancer.
