About 30 rice stakeholders from seven West African countries participated in a Regional Peer-to-Peer Learning on Rice Irrigation and Mechanization, organized by the ECOWAS Rice Observatory (ERO) in Kano, Nigeria, from 9 to 12 December 2024. The visit was an opportunity to build their capacities, deepen understanding of irrigation and mechanization systems, and promote knowledge exchange to inspire beneficiaries. World Bank's support mission for the implementation of the FSRP by ECOWAS on components 3 and 5 of the programme held from 25 to 26 August 2025 in Lomé at the Headquarters of the Regional Agency for Agriculture and Food (RAAF).

Discussions focused on the main achievements during the first half of 2025 and proposals for solutions to address challenges in the programme implementation.

The World Bank team was led by Dr Ashwini Sebastian, FSRP TTL and the ECOWAS team was led by Mr Alain Sy Traore, Director of Agriculture and Rural Development.
