🌿Welcome to Ashtanga Samasthiti Shala
At Ashtanga Samasthiti, we offer three core practices:
🌿Ashtanga Yoga,
🌿Vinyasa Krama Mandiram (VKM) by Matthew Sweeney
🌿Pranayama.
Our approach centers around self-practice, compassionate guidance, and deep listening to the body. We welcome practitioners of all backgrounds, supporting each individual to build a sustainable and personally meaningful path of yoga.

🌿Ashtanga Yoga – Our Approach
At our shala, Ashtanga is taught as a living, evolving practice that honors the traditional method while embracing intelligent adaptation. We guide each student based on their individual structure, needs, and stage of life.
Our teaching draws inspiration from Iyengar alignment principles, encouraging precision, mindful adjustments, and the use of props where helpful. We move slowly and steadily, supporting students in building a solid foundation—physically, mentally, and energetically.
Pranayama is woven into the practice to deepen breath awareness, support nervous system regulation, and help integrate the inner and outer work of yoga. Rather than rushing through series, we emphasize the quality of presence over quantity of postures.

🌿Vinyasa Krama Mandiram (VKM) by Matthew Sweeney
This system offers a set of therapeutic, adaptive sequences that support practitioners across various needs and phases of practice with pranayama as a mandatory :
• Sattvic Moon – The Moon Sequence
A calming flow combining yin and vinyasa, inviting presence and softness.
• New Moon – Amavasya Krama
A restorative sequence using props to support the hips, inner awareness, and deep rest.
• Shoulder Moon – Skanda Krama
A sequence for shoulder and upper back mobility, ideal for releasing tension and enhancing breath.
• Lion Cub Sequence
Therapeutic, grounding, and revealing of imbalances—supports joint stability and asymmetrical alignment.
• Lion Sequence
Strengthens legs, opens hips and thoracic spine, and gently prepares for backbending.
• Sunshine Sequence – Atapa Krama
A modified Primary Series with more balance and accessibility, offering a safer and sustainable approach for long-term practice.
⸻
🌿Pranayama – The Breath of Awareness
Pranayama is not separate from our asana—it is the thread that connects, stabilizes, and transforms.
Whether as part of a sequence or practiced on its own, pranayama guides students inward, builds emotional resilience, and fosters meditative clarity.

🌿A Practice of Wholeness and Community
At Ashtanga Samasthiti, yoga is a way of being. Our aim is to help you build your inner temple—a place of clarity, compassion, and strength—so that you can move through the world with openness and joy.
We nurture a supportive, inclusive community, where practice is not just physical, but a shared journey of learning, connection, and living yoga with heart.
