IMRT/IGRT Clinical Training Course 2025

The Division of Radiation Oncology, Siriraj Hospital successfully organized the IMRT/IGRT Clinical Training Course on 23–26 June 2025, with kind support from ELEKTA.

This course brought together radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and radiation therapists for expert lectures and hands-on sessions in advanced radiation therapy.
We were also honored to welcome participants from Vietnam, further strengthening regional collaboration and knowledge exchange.

🇯🇵 Clinical Insights from Kansai BNCT Center | 9–11June2025 🇹🇭

With the kind support of the Thailand Center of Excellence for Life Sciences (TCELS), the second team from Siriraj Radiation Oncology (SIRO) had the exceptional opportunity to conduct a three-day academic visit to the Kansai BNCT Center in Osaka, Japan.

During this visit, our team gained in-depth exposure to the comprehensive clinical workflow of Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT).

We are sincerely grateful to the outstanding team at Kansai BNCT Center for their warm welcome and for sharing their clinical expertise and innovative practices.

Dr. Tissana Prasartseree, recipient of the Ananda Mahidol Foundation Scholarship for the year 2024 (B.E. 2567), had an audience to humbly take leave before pursuing further studies in Advanced Radiation Oncology as a Clinical Fellow and a Ph.D. in Immunology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Texas, United States of America.

Dr. Tissana Prasatseree shared real-world experiences with Elekta Unity during the “Voice of Our Users” session of the FY25/26 APJ Kick-off. His insights highlighted the clinical value and impact of MR-Linac from a user’s perspective.

We’re excited to be conducting a clinical study with MR-Linac for SBRT in prostate cancer, helping to drive forward precision therapy and improve patient care.

Thanks to this generous funding, we had the incredible opportunity to learn from five leading institutions: University of Tsukuba, National Cancer Center, National Cancer Center East Hospital, Kobe Proton Center, and Kansai BNCT Center.

Dr. Ratchapas Romrattaphan, a third-year resident in the Division of Radiation Oncology, Department of Radiology, is participating in a clinical elective at the Danish Centre for Particle Therapy (DCPT), Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark. His training takes place from May 7 to June 1, 2025.

Doctor Ratchapas Romrattaphan, MD, a 3rd-year Resident from the Division of Radiation Oncology, Department of Radiology, is currently pursuing a clinical elective at The Danish Centre for Particle Therapy (DCPT), Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark, from May 7th to June 1st, 2025.

The 6th Siriraj-Varian IGABT School was successfully held at Siriraj Hospital from May 30 to 31, 2025. This two-day specialized training brought together physicians, nurses, medical physicists, and radiologic technologists from leading institutions such as Batangas Medical Center, Calamba Medical Center, Central Luzon Doctors’ Hospital, Global Cancer Center, BAC, Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital, Maui Memorial Medical Center, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Medical Center, Philippine General Hospital, Rizal Medical Center, Sacred Heart Medical Center, Southern Philippines Medical Center, St. Luke’s Medical Center, and The Medical City Ortigas. Their shared goal was to enhance cancer care through advanced technology and collaborative learning.

The course focused on image-guided adaptive brachytherapy (IGABT), offering expert lectures, hands-on workshops, and case discussions. Participants deepened their knowledge in 3D image-guided techniques, treatment planning, and international brachytherapy standards. This initiative reflects Siriraj Hospital’s commitment to improving cancer treatment, fostering professional growth, and building a strong oncology network. We thank all who contributed to making the event a meaningful success.

The IAEA and Siriraj Hospital successfully concluded the Regional Training Course (RAS6107) on Radiotherapy Patient Safety and QUATRO Audit Methodologies from 26–30 May 2025. Directed by Asst Prof Nantakan Apiwarodom, the course hosted 46 professionals from 17 Asian countries, focusing on radiotherapy safety, quality audits, and QUATRO methodology. Special thanks to international IAEA experts and all participants for their active engagement!

From May 2nd to 6th, 2025, Associate Professor Janjira Petsuksiri, MD, from the Division of Radiation Oncology at Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, presented her research on treatment approaches for stage III endometrial cancer at the ESTRO 2025 Congress in Vienna, Austria. Her study, comparing adjuvant chemotherapy to combined chemotherapy and radiation therapy, was shared as a digital poster and is intended for international publication.

The congress, themed “Transformative Innovation Through Partnership,” focused on advancing radiation oncology through collaboration and innovation, aligning with ESTRO’s 2030 vision of achieving optimal health for all through equitable cancer care.

From May 2nd – 6th, 2025, Associate Professor Janjira Petsuksiri, MD, a lecturer from the Division of Radiation Oncology, Department of Radiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, presented a digital poster titled, "Adjuvant chemotherapy versus combined chemotherapy and radiation therapy in stage III endometrial cancer: A propensity score matching study" at "The European SocieTy for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) 2025 Congress" in Vienna, the Republic of Austria. Assoc. Prof. Petsuksiri aims to publish this research in an international publication.

ESTRO 2025 Congress, themed "Transformative Innovation Through Partnership," aims to strengthen radiation oncology's role in multidisciplinary cancer care and ensure equitable access to high-value radiation therapy for all cancer patients. The society's vision statement for 2030, "Radiation Oncology. Optimal Health for All, Together," underscores this commitment.

The congress focused on pioneering research and collaboration to advance the boundaries of radiation oncology and multidisciplinary cancer care. State-of-the-art sessions featured panel discussions, pitch sessions, and debates, fostering mutual learning and cooperation among stakeholders.
