มีเป้าหมายในการมุ่งเน้นการดำเนินการสนับสนุน การสอน ความรู้ นวัตกรรม งานวิจัย และเสริมสร้างการสื่อสารระหว่างศัลยแพทย์ทั้งในประเทศไทย ภูมิภาคเอเซีย และระดับนานานชาติ เพื่อประโยชน์ต่อท่านสมาชิกสมาคมฯ และศัลยแพทย์ทุกท่าน ในการพัฒนาความรู้ทางศัลยศาสตร์ ให้ทันยุคทันสมัย นำไปสู่ประโยชน์ต่อผู้ป่วย และประเทศชาติ

8 พฤศจิกายน 2567 วันครบรอบสถาปนา 70 ปี สมาคมวิทยาลัยศัลยแพทย์นานาชาติแห่งประเทศไทยในพระบรมราชูปถัมถ์ ( International College of Surgeons , Thailand Section Under the Royal Patronage of his Majesty the King)

สมาคมศัลยแพทย์แห่งแรกและเก่าแก่ที่สุดในประเทศไทย ก่อตั้งขึ้นในวันที่ 8พฤศจิกายน พศ 2497 โดย ท่านพันโทนายแพทย์นิตย์ เวชชวิศิษฐ์ อธิบดีกรมการแพทย์และนายกสมาคมฯ ในสมัยนั้น ได้กราบเรียนเชิญ นายกรัฐมนตรี พณฯ ท่าน จอมพลป. พิบูลสงคราม เป็นประธานในพิธีเปิด

ทางสมาคมฯ ได้ดำเนินกิจกรรมบำเพ็ญประโยชน์เพื่อสังคมโดยทีมคณาจารย์ศัลยแพทย์ไทยทั้งจากกระทรวงสาธารณสุข กรมการแพทย์ โรงเรียนแพทย์ ฯลฯ จากรุ่นสู่รุ่นมาจวบจนปัจจุบันนับเวลาได้70ปี

ท่านนายกสมาคมฯ ปัจจุบัน อจ.นายแพทย์เสถียร ธรรมทวีธิกุล กล่าวเปิดงาน และ ท่าน พลโทศาสตราจารย์นายแพทย์นพดล วรอุไร อดีตนายกสมาคมฯ ท่านได้บรรยายถึงประวัติอันยิ่งใหญ่ของสมาคมฯ กิจกรรมต่างๆที่ดำเนินมาร่วมกับศัลยแพทย์ทั้งในไทยและต่างประเทศนับแต่อดีตจวบจนปัจจุบันและก้าวต่อสู่อนาคตต่อไป

ท่านอาจารย์อาวุโสหลายท่านเช่น ศ.นพ.จรัส สุวรรณเวลา, ศ.นพ.จอมจักร จันทรสกุล, ศ.นพ.ณรงค์ รอดวรรณะ , อ.นพ.พรเทพ เปรมโยธิน, ศ.นพ.สุกิจ พันธุ์พิมานมาศ ได้ให้โอวาสและคำแนะนำอันเป็นประโยชน์กับการทำงานของกรรมการสมาคมฯต่อไป
