Time for fun scientific facts!

🔥Laser hair removal is one of the most effective innovations for achieving nearly permanent hair removal. When discussing the MEDIOSTAR LASER HAIR removal system, it’s important to understand the mechanism behind hair removal.

👉🏼So, how does the laser target hair and facilitate its removal?
- The laser emits an 810nm wavelength to specifically target the dark color of hair at the root.
- The hair, then, becomes damaged, leading to reduced hair growth.
- This is why grey hair cannot be treated; it lacks the pigment for the laser to target effectively. Additionally, the laser cannot be used on dark moles (hair on moles), as it would not be able to distinguish between the mole and the hair.
- The system also utilizes a 940nm laser wavelength to target the blood vessels that supply the hair follicles. When this blood supply is cut off, it results in a longer-lasting or permanent effect.

👉🏼Another key aspect of laser hair removal is the use of “selective photothermolysis.”
- This technique selectively targets dark hair while leaving the surrounding skin unharmed, making it suitable for individuals with darker skin tones. As a result, the 810nm and 940nm wavelengths are particularly effective.

👉🏼Sessions and spacing
- The laser primarily affects hair follicles that are in the “anagen” or “growing” phase, meaning only hair in this stage can be destroyed. This is why multiple sessions are necessary
- The sessions should be spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart
- We need to wait for the hair to enter anagen phase, which can take 4 to 8 weeks (hence the spacing)
- Factors such as skin type, hair thickness, and ethnicity also affects the amount of sessions required
- People with darker skin may require more sessions to achieve semi-permanent or fully permanent hair removal
