-The sensory symptoms created by myofascial trigger points take a variety of forms and they aren’t limited to the sense of pain, symptoms of dysfunction such as muscle stiffness, weakness, edema, nausea, dizziness, and postutal distortions, to name a few are even more diverse and include a number of surprises.

Trigger points can also cause a muscle to cramp down on the blood flow in an artery, making a distant body part feel cold. Trigger points in a calf muscle can impede the return of blood in a vein, resulting in swollen ankle or foot. The same effect in a neck muscle can cause a swollen wrist and hand.

I studied CranioSacral Biodynamics with a German teacher named Stefan Reiter years ago. This practice involves the skull, which connects to the spine down to the coccyx. Although it is very scientific, the practice itself requires deep concentration. There is no need for a CT Scan; instead, Visionary CST uses sensory perception without touching the patient. Additionally, it involves recognizing differences in dimensions such as bones/mobility, tissues/flexibility, and fluids/flow.

During the course, I paired up with a French woman working at Alliance Française. We resonated well with each other and took turns being the patient. One of the exercises is called “unwinding,” where you simply hold the head or any part of the body of patient. After a while, that part start freely moveable. The patient must also remain in a meditative state. You can also support other body parts, depending on the specific issue. Just by holding them, they will eventually turn to release tension on their own. Sometimes, the movement is so pronounced that patients ask if I made them move that much. In reality, the deep tissues in the body are moving and correcting themselves. This process helps release emotions or memories from accidents or other traumats deeply embedded in the tissues.
