When talking about fine dining, it does not only draw visitors to Thailand for food, but also brings much-needed revenue to 5 star hotels, high-end spas, shopping malls and so forth. With several of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants located in Thailand, including the coveted #1 position in 2015 and 2016, Thailand is quickly becoming recognized as a culinary powerhouse in Asia. Michelin has recently launched its guide in Singapore and is rumored to be looking at Thailand next. Several Michelin starred restaurants from Europe and Japan have recently opened up restaurants in Bangkok, with many more that visit Thailand each year for "pop-ups" and promotional events. Definitely, the Thai government would strongly like to closely focus on promoting fine dining as part of tourism in order to spur the national economy even more.
