The Bureau of the Royal Household announced on 24 October 2025 that Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother passed away peacefully at 21.21 hr on Friday, 24 October 2025, at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok.
According to the announcement, a medical team treating Her Majesty had requested royal permission for Her Majesty to stay at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society, since 7 September 2019, to monitor various systems in her body. During Her Majesty's stay at the hospital, Her Majesty fell ill many times, and the medical team found abnormalities in multiple systems, requiring continuous medical treatment.
Since 17 October 2025, Her Majesty the Queen Mother had developed a bloodstream infection. Despite great efforts by the royal medical team to provide treatment to Her Majesty to the best of its ability, her condition gradually deteriorated, and on Friday, 24 October 2025, at 21.21 hr, Her Majesty passed away peacefully at the age of 93.
His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua has issued a Royal Command for the Bureau of the Royal Household to arrange the royal funeral with the highest honors according to the royal tradition. The body of Her Majesty the Queen Mother will lie in state in Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall in the Grand Palace compound.
His Majesty the King has also decreed a one-year mourning period for members of the Royal Family and royal court officials from the date of passing.
