At MALI Interdisciplinary Hospital, we offer the CIMT (Carotid Intima-Media Thickness) Test — an advanced, noninvasive ultrasound screening that helps assess your risk of atherosclerosis, stroke, and cardiovascular disease before symptoms appear.

✨ Detect Risk Early. Take Action Sooner.

A CIMT test measures the thickness of your carotid artery walls and can identify early plaque buildup, allowing you and your physician to take preventive steps before serious complications occur.

Why consider a CIMT Test?

✔️ Early detection of cardiovascular disease risk
✔️ Evaluates plaque buildup in the carotid arteries
✔️ Quick, painless, and radiation-free examination
✔️ Supports personalized prevention and treatment planning
✔️ Helps reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke

💛 Your risk is our responsibility.

The sooner you understand your cardiovascular health, the sooner you can make lifestyle changes and receive appropriate medical guidance to protect your future.

Over the two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have adapted to a new normal of living. Although vaccinations have gone around we should still practice good hand hygiene, always wear a mask, social distancing when possible and avoid close contact with those whom might be sick.

Planning a romantic getaway out of town? Always be prepared.

A toothache can be caused by anything from food being stuck in your gum to a tooth fracture or bacterial infection. Some toothaches may be temporary with gum irritations that can be treated at home, however serious toothaches may need treatment by dental professionals to resolve what’s causing the pain.

𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺?

• Tooth decay.
• Tooth fracture.
• Damaged filling.
• Abscessed tooth (a bacterial infection inside the tooth).
• Infected gums.
• Eruption (teeth coming out of the gums).
• Tooth removal.

𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘺𝘮𝘱𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦?

• Sharp, throbbing, or constant pain.
• Pain when pressure is applied to the tooth (biting down on something).
• Swelling around the tooth.
• Foul-tasting drainage from the infected tooth.
• A bad odour from the mouth.

𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘐 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢 𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦?

In most cases, toothaches are the result of tooth decay. You should practice good oral hygiene to prevent toothaches from occurring. Brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and floss at least once a day. You should visit your dentist twice a year for professional cleaning and have a balanced diet, avoid foods and drinks with high sugar or acidity as they will damage your enamel.

If you’re experiencing prolonged or severe pain for more than one or two days, we’d advise you to see your dentist. Proper diagnosis and treatment of dental infections are important to prevent it from spreading to other parts of the face, skull and possibly to the bloodstream.

Every year, its approximated that 10 million people lose their lives from cancer, that more than HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria combined. Researchers and experts have projected that by 2030 the mortality rate will increase to 13 million… if we don’t act on this.

This year’s World Cancer Day campaign is ‘Close the Care Gap’, which is about understanding and recognizing the inequalities in cancer care around the world. Inequality in cancer care can cost someone their life and people who seek cancer care may often hit barriers. Income, education, location discrimination based on ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability and lifestyle are just a few factors that can affect care.

This gap affects everyone, your loved and yourself, the barriers aren’t permeant and you have the ability to change this. Listen to the perspectives of people living with cancer, connect with their story and let their experiences guide your thoughts and actions. Together we can reduce the global impact of cancer and provide a fairer future where people live heathier and have better access to health and cancer services, no matter where they are in the world.
