" The ticking of aging clocks"

Computational models that measure biological age and aging rate regardless of chronological age are called aging clocks. The underlying counting mechanisms of the intrinsic timers of these clocks are still unclear. Molecular mediators and determinants of aging rate point to the key roles of DNA damage, epigenetic drift, and inflammation. Persistent DNA damage leads to cellular senescence and the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), which induces cytotoxic immune cell infiltration; this further induces DNA damage through reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS). I discuss the possibility that DNA damage (or the response to it, including epigenetic changes) is the fundamental counting unit of cell cycles and cellular senescence, that ultimately accounts for cell composition changes and functional decline in tissues, as well as the key intervention points. #บุญพรเภสัช #หมอยาคู่บ้านคุณ #ร้านยา #ยา #ร้านยาใกล้ฉัน

How is wisdom related to aging? While many people associate wisdom with advanced age, becoming wise clearly requires more than "just" growing old - accumulated life experience is an important foundation for wisdom, but not all highly wise individuals are old and many old individuals are not particularly wise. This article first reviews how wisdom is defined in psychological research, with an emphasis on models of how wisdom develops. Then, recent research is reviewed that looks into (a) the relationship between wisdom and chronological age and (b) wisdom as a resource for coping with age-related challenges. Wound healing was previously thought to be defective in the elderly given the higher presence of chronic wounds and the longer time required for re-epithelialization of acute wounds. However, these notions have been challenged in recent research, which has shown that wound healing in the elderly is delayed but not defective. Mitochondrial dysfunction has been indicated as a key contributor to skeletal myocyte decline and loss of physical performance with aging. Several systems have been implicated in the regulation of muscle plasticity and trophism such as the fine-tuned and complex regulation between the stimulator of protein synthesis, mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR), and the inhibitor of mTOR, AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), that promotes muscle catabolism. Our findings highlighted the limitations in the methodological quality of the included reviews that may have influenced our results regarding risk factors. Current risk assessment tools and conceptual frameworks do not fully explain the complex and changing interactions amongst risk factors.
