SMART Food Index (SFI) เป็นแนวคิดบนพื้นฐานทางวิทยาศาสตร์ ซึ่งให้ความหมายใหม่ของอาหารที่ดีต่อสุขภาพ ยั่งยืน และสะท้อนอัตลักษณ์ทางวัฒนธรรมสำหรับศตวรรษที่ 21 หรือที่ในระดับสากลเรียกว่า Planetary Diet

หนึ่งในประเด็นที่ได้รับความสนใจคือการเชื่อมโยงแนวคิดอาหารสุขภาพจากพืช (Planetary Diet) เข้ากับแนวคิด Blue Zone หรือพื้นที่ที่ผู้คนมีอายุยืนและสุขภาพดี ซึ่งสอดคล้องอย่างน่าทึ่งกับอาหารไทยดั้งเดิม ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการกินผักเป็นหลัก การใช้วัตถุดิบสดจากท้องถิ่น การกินอย่างพอดี และความผูกพันในชุมชน สิ่งเหล่านี้สร้างความตื่นเต้นให้กับชาวเชียงใหม่และเครือข่ายด้านอาหารของจังหวัด พร้อมจุดประกายความตั้งใจที่จะร่วมกันสร้างเส้นทางสู่การเป็น “Blue Zone” ของประเทศไทยในอนาคต
