On 26 June, at the 9th floor of the 50th Anniversary Building, Faculty of Medicine, CMU, we held an intensive workshop on advancing research for UK grant opportunities.
The event was made possible through the collaboration of the Research Administration Office, Chiang Mai University, Queen Mary University of London, the Faculty of Medicine, and the British Council.

We were honored to welcome Professor Dr. Damnoensant Pruksakorn, Vice Dean of Research, Innovation, and International Affairs, who delivered the opening speech.

Special thanks to our esteemed speakers from Queen Mary University of London:
✨ Professor Dr. Rohini Mathur, Professor and Chair of Health Data Science, who shared valuable strategies on grant writing, fellowship applications, and funding evaluations.

We were also pleased to hear from Chiang Mai University’s own:
✨ Associate Professor Dr. Chaisiri Angkurawaranon, Head of the Global Health Research Center and Assistant Dean for Research, Innovation, and International Affairs. He provided expert insights on project-specific grant considerations—including approval processes, costing, and public engagement—drawing from his extensive experience with the Newton Fund, NIHR Global Health Research, and UKRI.

The presentations were insightful and inspiring, sparking new passion and hope for future grant opportunities.

✅ สัญชาติไทย อายุไม่เกิน 40 ปี
✅ ปริญญาแพทยศาสตร์บัณฑิต หรือปริญญาเอกด้านวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพ
✅ มีความสนใจและประสบการณ์ด้าน Digital Health และ Implementation Research
✅ ผ่านการทดสอบภาษาอังกฤษตามเกณฑ์ที่มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่กำหนด และสามารถสื่อสารและเขียนบทความวิชาการเป็นภาษาอังกฤษได้
✅ มีความกระตือรือร้นในการเรียนรู้สิ่งใหม่ๆ และมีความคิดสร้างสรรค์
✅ สามารถปฏิบัติงานได้อย่างน้อย 4 ปี (ทดลองงาน 3 เดือน)

เงินเดือนเริ่มต้นที่ 40,000 บาท (เพิ่มได้ถึง 60,000 บาทขึ้นกับประสบการณ์และความสามารถ) มีโอกาสได้ไปศึกษาดูงานและทำงานร่วมกับสถาบันชั้นนำในต่างประเทศ

✨✨On Monday, April 21, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, at the NSP Rice Grain Auditorium, Administrative Building of CMU Science and Technology Park (Chiang Mai Province), a seminar titled “Unlocking Global Opportunities: International Funding for Research and Education” was held. This event aimed to enhance knowledge on international research funding for faculty members and researchers.✨✨
During the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chaisiri Angkurawaranon, Head of the Global Health Research Center and Assistant Dean for Research, Innovation, and International Relations, served as a speaker, delivering a presentation on "UK Funding Opportunities."

📢 Workshop on “Learning Health System to Support Value Based Care for management of NCDs in Thailand ” 📢

📅 Date: March 31 -April 1, 2025
📍 Venue: Kantary Hills Hotel, Chiang Mai, Thailand 👥

Participants: 100 participants from 5 provinces (6 hospitals from Chiang Mai: Mae Wang, San Pa Tong, Hot, Hang D**g, Chai Prakan, and Chiang Dao; and 2 hospitals from Lamphun: Mae Tha and Pa Sang, Lamphang, Prae and Nan).

On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chaisiri Angkurawaranon, Assistant Dean and Head of the Global Health Research Center, Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, reported on the project. He addressed that the researchers have decided to conduct two projects simultaneously as they involve the same target group of NCD patients, and the activities can be developed and learned together. The event participants comprised 100 people, including doctors, nurses, public health professionals, pharmacists, computer scientists, and elderly representatives from these five provinces

This event featured guest speakers from the Department of Family Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, and several esteemed experts:

Dr. Supatra Sriwanichakorn – President of the General Practitioner/Family Medicine Association of Thailand and the Thai Academy of Family Physicians.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Praew Kotruchin – Lecturer, Department of Emergency Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, and member of the Hypertension Association of Thailand.

Dr. Orawan Quansri – Lecturer, Department of Public Health Administration, Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University.

For 1 April’s session, speakers from Surat Thani Province, led by Dr. Akapol Phisarn, Director of Ban Ta Khun Hospital in Surat Thani, and his team shared their insights on Remission Services at hospital and health-promoting hospital levels. This is a great opportunity to learn from southern regions, including Ban Ta Khun Hospital, Ban Na Derm Hospital, and the Health Promoting Hospital of Khao Phang Subdistrict.

I hope this event will benefit everyone in advancing the healthcare system for NCD management.

Workshop: Climate Change and Health Studies

Participants: Faculty members, researchers, and statisticians from various departments of the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University

It was an honor to have Prof. Dr. Dumnoensun Pruksakorn, M.D., the Associate Dean for Research, Innovation, and International Affairs of the Faculty of Medicine at CMU, open the event for us.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chaisiri Angkurawaranon, Assistant Dean for Research, Innovation, and International Affairs, and Head of the Global Health Research Center, Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, gave a welcoming remark to the participants.

The event featured insightful sessions from esteemed speakers:

👨‍⚕️ Prof. Shakoor Hajat, Professor of Global Environmental Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and Director of the National Institute for Health and Care Research, introduced climate change and health studies and the case-crossover study design.
👨‍⚕️ Asst. Prof. Ramita Thawonmas from the School of Tropical Medicine and Global Health, Nagasaki University, Japan, discussed ambient temperature and suicides and conducting scoping reviews in climate and health research.
👨‍⚕️ Dr. Kai Wan, Research Fellow at the Department of Public Health, Environments and Society, Faculty of Public Health and Policy, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, presented on time series regression analysis with demonstrations in R/RStudio and health impact analysis of climate change.

Assoc.Prof.Chaisiri Angkurawaranon, M.D., Ph.D., Head of the Global Health Research Center and Assistant Dean for Research, Innovation, and International Affairs, along with UK visitors from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, UK, and Nagasaki University in a meeting with Associate Professor Dr. Kriangkrai Sritanawiboonchai, Director of the Research Institute for Health Sciences, and faculty members of the institute at Chiang Mai University. The discussion focused on fostering collaboration in education and research, particularly emphasizing Climate Change and Planetary Health. The meeting took place on Tuesday, March 17, 2025, at the conference room of the Research Institute for Health Sciences, Chiang Mai University.
