Subject: Incident Report - Tourist Accident at the River Kwai Bridge
Dear Supervisor,
On Saturday, August 10, 2024, at approximately 09:10 AM, the Tourist Assistance Center (TAC) at the River Kwai Bridge received a report from the Kanchanaburi Tourist Police regarding a foreign tourist who had an accident. The tourist fell from the River Kwai Bridge (near the Guanyin statue) while walking and leading a bicycle. The fall was from a height of approximately 4 meters. The Pitakkarn Rescue subsequently transported the injured tourist to Synphaet Hospital.
The actions taken by TAC officers are as follows:
1. **Immediate Response:** TAC officers promptly traveled to Synphaet Hospital to inquire about the incident. Preliminary information revealed that the injured person is a 55-year-old Spanish national. The accident occurred at around 08:30 AM while the tourist was walking on the River Kwai Bridge and accidentally fell, sustaining serious injuries.
2. **Insurance Coordination:** TAC officers coordinated with the insurance company regarding the injured person's medical expenses. It was confirmed that the insurance policy is with FIAC SALEGUROS, with coverage up to 1,200,000 Baht. However, payment must be made upfront, and the TAC officer has informed the relatives of this requirement.
3. **Medical Consultation:** TAC officers spoke with the attending physician, who reported that X-ray results showed a fracture in the right ankle. The patient has been fitted with a cast and has opted to stay in the hospital for 1-2 days for recovery.
4. **Patient Transfer:** Subsequently, the injured tourist was moved to a patient ward, where they will continue to receive medical care.
