His journey in yoga has begun 14 years ago, when the passion for sports
and bodywork brought him to the yoga world when he was looking to
recover the lost flexibility. Michael was an outstanding athlete, jiu-jitsu practitioner and runner,
until he found his real passion for Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Since then he was developing his practice with expert teachers around
the world. All started in New Ze
aland, in 2007, where he lived and
practiced with John Scott, his first inspiration. After Rolf Naujokat in
Goa, India and Matthew Vollmer in Brazil. Michael also experienced
India`s classic tradition during eight times 3-month immersions at
Mysore in the Shri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute, with R. Sharat Jois, the greater specialist of Ashtanga Yoga nowadays. After developing his practice and learn with different teachers, Michael
was ready to share yoga and guide others. Was when he opened his first
Ashtanga Yoga Studio in Phuket in 2011, in Sukko Spa, for 2 years. In
2014 he went back to his motherland and opened his yoga studio in
Chile, where he was teaching the traditional method for more than 3
years. By practicing 3 series Ashtanga yoga for many years he started feeling
pain and discomforts, and so realizing that some changes were needed. In 2019 in Ubud (Bali) he met Matthew Sweeney: another great teacher
and his life-changing method Atapa Krama. A very clever way to
approach the practice and an amazing tool for practice yoga developed
in 6 different series, that has changed Michael`s teachings and life. Amazed with the effects of the practice he started integrating the
method in his classes and nowadays he teaches Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga
and Vinyasa Krama in his own yoga studio in Ko Phangan (Thailand),
where he currently lives. "This is not a Circus, this is yoga, and the most important part of this
movement practice is the breathing, and some clever sequences that can
follow us until our last breath."
