Minerva Yoga Jivamukti Yoga Teacher & Yoga Mentor. I’m Minerva, a francovenezuelan woman feeling mostly like a world citizen. The yoga practice gave me so much ! Namasté

I was born near to the Amazon forest in Venezuela. I spend my childhood surrounded by nature and wild animals. Spirituality, yoga and vegetarianism were transmitted to me by my mom when I was a child. I moved to France when I was 18yo and now I’m living in the magic Island of Koh Phangan. My yoga journey as a practitioner started in 2015 in Barcelona at the Jivamukti Yoga School. A safe space, understanding, compassion, clarity, ease and so much more. It became evident for me that I wanted to share this magic, these tools and gifts with others. I became a 300h Jivamukti yoga teacher in 2017 in Costa Rica and my journey as a teacher started in Marseille later on that year. In 2021 I finished my Jivamukti Teacher Apprenticeship Program in Barcelona and obtained the 800h advanced certificate. In 2021 I got my certificated as a Informed Trauma Yoga teacher with Radika foundation and school based in Barcelona. Jivamukti Yoga is a path to liberation through compassion for all beings. A spiritual and physical practice which find its roots in Hatha and Vinyasa yoga. The Jivamukti Yoga method is grounded in the original meaning of the sanskrit word Asana as “seat, connection”. The relationship to the earth and Earth implies all of life. I will be happy to accompany you through the journey of the yoga practices and healing. Sharing with you all I have to offer, listening to your story and your needs and goals.

Try these cues instead 👇🏽🔥

I love alignment, I really see the potential in it to understand our bodies and the practice of asana BUT only when the focus is not on the “shape”

Too often, yoga teachers are taught to cue what a pose should look like, as if there’s one correct way to express an asana.

But bodies are different. Proportions, mobility, strength, past injuries, all of these affect how a pose will feel and function for each person.

When we teach alignment through sensation instead of shape, we shift the student’s focus from performing to experiencing.

For example:
❌ Instead of: “Straighten your leg”
✅ Try: “Press down through your heel and feel your thigh engage”

❌ Instead of: “Square your hips”
✅ Try: “Can you feel more space if you gently draw the left hip back?”

❌ Instead of: “Flatten your back”
✅ Try: “Notice the length from your tailbone to the crown of your head”

❌ Instead of: “Tuck your tailbone”
✅Try: “Can you feel your lower belly lift when you root through your feet?”

This kind of cueing builds awareness, not dependence. It empowers students to take ownership of their practice.

I usually use these kind of cues once the students are on the pose to invite that exploration.

Alignment is not visual perfection, it’s functional clarity, stability, and a felt sense of connection.

Let’s stop molding bodies into idealized postures. Let’s start guiding students toward alignment that supports their growth from the inside out.

When I watched that old video of me leading my first dharma talk and mantra chant, I smiled with so much tenderness.

There I was so nervous, speaking in broken English, trying to remember everything I’d prepared… but showing up with a heart full of love and the deep desire to share this practice.

And like most new yoga teachers, I made so many “mistakes.” Essential, mistakes.

Not because I wasn’t good enough,
But because that’s how we learn.

Years later, I see the same patterns in the teachers I mentor:
Over-cueing. Avoiding silence. Feeling pressure to be liked. Doubting their voice. Rushing to teach the perfect class.

These roadblocks are so common and completely human.
We don’t grow by avoiding them.
We grow by walking through them with awareness, reflection, and support.

And if you’re in that phase right now, I want you to know: you’re not alone.
Your desire to continue sharing and not giving this up when it gets hard already means you’re on the right path and that your “why” is authentic and true.

I support the yoga teachers I mentor to move through these exact challenges, building clarity, confidence, and a deeper connection to their teaching.

🧡 If this resonates with you and you’re ready to go deeper, send me a DM. I’d love to get in touch and support your journey.

The Power of Friendliness & Kindness 🤍

Maitrī is a Sanskrit term meaning unconditional friendliness, is a practice of becoming a true friend to yourself and kindness towards others even in moments of discomfort or difficulty.

When we share this concept in class, whether through personal stories, reflections, or simple examples, it creates an environment where students can see that it’s okay to struggle and they can still meet themselves with kindness.

✨ Teaching maitri means inviting your students to:
🤲🏽 Let go of self-judgment
🫶🏼 Cultivate a relationship with themselves built on care, not criticism
👌🏽 Embrace the present moment as it is, not as they think it should be

When you weave Maitrī into your classes, you’re not just teaching yoga, you’re helping students build , emotional , and -compassion that lasts far beyond the mat.

As you guide your students, reflect on this:
How are you inviting them to cultivate kindness in their practice and in their life?

Let’s share Maitrī in the classroom, through stories, teachings, and simple reminders that kindness toward ourselves and others is a lifelong practice and one of the most powerful tools we can develop ✨

Confidence doesn’t appear out of nowhere. It can consciously be built, step by step 🙌🏽

Most yoga teachers hesitate with hands-on assists not because they’re incapable, but because they’re uncertain.

Uncertain about how to touch, when, and how much.

🧠 Science shows that when we’re unsure, the brain triggers hesitation as a protective mechanism. But when we have a clear plan, our nervous system settles, and we act with confidence and presence.

The same applies to assisting.

📌 When you know what you’re doing and why you’re doing it, clarity replaces doubt.
And that clarity is felt by your students too👁️

These 10 steps help you:
🙌🏽 Refine your technique
👁️ Deepen your presence
🗣️ Communicate with confidence
🤲🏽 And create trust through intentional, empowered touch

💬 If you want to become more confident and more effective in your assists

My course The Power of Touch teaches you everything from the foundations to 75+ techniques across 20+ asanas.

Are you teaching with the body or at the body? 🤔

🔥Too often, sequencing becomes about peak poses and performance, forgetting that asana practice is an exploration of the self through sensations, breath, and awareness.

👁️ For students to truly explore their capacity and limits, they need to feel physically . That sense of readiness invites instead of fear, and instead of performance.

☝🏽Respectful sequencing isn’t just about avoiding injury. It’s about creating space for physical and mental growth, self empowerment, and a deepened sense of proprioception.

✨Today I’m sharing 7 key elements to make your sequences more body-aware, accessible, and transformational.

🙌🏽 From joint prep to breath rhythm, options to integration, each one will invite your students to more, force less, and more deeply with their practice.

👁️ How do you bring yoga philosophy into your classes?

You don’t need to quote entire passages from the Bhagavad Gita or deliver a TED Talk.

Sometimes, a simple mantra like Om Mani Padme Hum can carry a deep and relatable message: Compassion is essential for our personal development and spiritual growth… it leads to wisdom.

Compassion is a theme we can explore with our students from different perspectives:

🌸 How do we treat ourselves?
• What is the tone of our inner dialogue?

• What do we say to ourselves in moments of challenge or failure?

• How do we hold ourselves through pain, guilt, or loss?

🌸 How do we treat others?
• Can we stay present and kind when someone close to us is struggling?

• Can we extend that same compassion to someone we don’t know?

• Can we contribute, even in small ways, to the relief of others’ suffering?

🌸 Can we see beyond someone’s anger or difficult behavior?
• Can we recognize pain behind the mask and choose to respond with understanding?

This carousel is not just about a mantra, it’s an example of how to share profound teachings in a way that’s clear, accessible, and deeply relatable.

This beautiful reflection on compassion comes from the Focus of the Month for April, written by . I highly recommend visiting their website to read the full piece.

Most yoga teachers are taught that hands-on assists are for correcting alignment.

And many teachers today avoid using this tool, either because of bad personal experiences receiving assists, or out of fear of injuring someone.

This all comes from the idea that hands-on assists are meant to “correct” people, to “force” them into a shape that might not be accessible to their body.

But alignment is just the surface.
Even if many of us started using assists with that intention, they can be, and are, so much more.

For me, hands-on assists are my most powerful tool to build trust, support individual needs, and serve each student personally, even in a class full of different bodies and abilities.

To this day, I still receive messages of gratitude from students, thanking me for assists that helped them better understand the sensations of an asana, and even relax more deeply into it.

It all comes down to intention.
The intention behind your touch.
The intention behind your presence.

And I get it, we don’t all learn how to approach assists in a way that’s respectful, supportive, and clear.
But it’s never too late to shift our perception and re-learn this beautiful skill.

✨ If you want to dive deeper into this powerful tool,
I’ve created a full course where I teach foundational approaches and practical techniques to support your students with confidence and clarity through hands-on assists.

Comment “hands” and I’ll send you the link.
And you’ll also receive my free mini-course on assisting Downward-Facing Dog.

Do you feel nervous about giving hands-on assists in your yoga classes?

You’re not alone. Many yoga teachers hesitate because they don’t feel confident or clear about how to assist their students effectively. But the truth is that hands-on assist can be easy to do yet effective and support when done with the right intention.

Here are 4 key tips to guide you:

👁️Observe: Understand what your student needs before stepping in. Drop your own preferences and “go to” assists.

🤲🏽Choose: Decide on the type of assist you’ll provide before engaging with the action. This will eliminate hesitation and will provide a better support as well as increase trust.

✨Be Present: Be present with your actions, tune in to your student’s breath and stay with the same student for the whole duration of the pose.

🍃Exit Gently: Help your student to get out of the pose and remove your hands softly.

Hands-on assists aren’t about “fixing” your students—they’re about guiding them with care, providing a better support and enhancing their body awareness.

💡If you wanna dive deeper into hands on assist drop “hands” in the comments and I’ll send you my free mini course.

Yoga philosophy is, for me, the richest part of this practice.

I fell in love with yoga because of the profound impact the teacher’s words had on me. I was navigating a challenging time in my life — as we all do, at some point. The physical release through the sweaty asana practice and mantra chanting contributed to the awe of discovering this practice in a deeper way… “So, this is yoga!” I remember thinking to myself.

Yoga philosophy becomes easy to share and relate to for both you and your students when you can connect a concept to real, everyday life situations. These are the most powerful sharings, because taking yoga off the mat means applying it to life from a place of harmony, or at the very least, from a place of self-awareness.

This is personally my favorite yoga sutra. It offers a powerful teaching on acceptance, compassion, understanding, and detachment.

Do you teach yoga philosophy? How do you approach it in your classes? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below! 😊
