How to Get Maximum Benefit from Using Sauna? Part 4.

Whilst enjoying sauna, hot and ice baths experiences altogether, why not boost its detoxification, rejuvenation and relaxation processes internally?

Here are some of our recommendations you can try to improve your health whilst pampering yourself at our facilities:

Clove Buds

It is no secret that oral health is imperative to one’s health. And whilst your body in sauna is releasing toxins, you can put a couple of clove buds in your mouth and suck on them in order to get incredible health benefits.

Apart from improving oral health such as preventing cavities, cloves can help lower your risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, stomach ulcers and even certain cancers.

Herbal Teas

Whilst herbal teas deserve a whole post, we will mention some of the most important ones here: Licorice tea will clear mucus from your lungs.

Ginger tea will stimulate metabolism and have an anti inflammatory effect on your digestive tract. Lemon Balm tea will put you at ease and help your adrenals to recover.

Psyllium Husk

Psyllium husks trap and then remove toxins from the body, so that they are not re-absorbed from the colon into the bloodstream. Numerous medical studies show that psyllium husks help maintain cholesterol levels within the normal range, and thus help support heart health.

How to Get Maximum Benefit from Using Sauna? Part 3.

We are obsessed with all things health and sauna! Aren’t you?!
And today, we are going to share with you 4 most powerful essential oils that will heal your body, mind and soul!

But before we do that, we want to point out that there are multiple ways of using aromatherapy oils:

1. You can put a couple of drops of any oil in a water ladle before you pour it on the heated stones or add in boiling water for.

2. You can rub it in your hands and apply it in the areas you feel tension or where your nose is to get a better impact.

3. You can add a couple of drops of pure essential oils into your shampoo or hair mask to nurture your scalp and uplift your crown chakra.

Exercise to try in the sauna with oils:

Take a deep and slow breath. As deep as it is humanly possible Hold for a few seconds then release! And continue repeating that process throughout for your sauna aromatherapy session for which you should use:

Eucalyptus Oil

How to Get Maximum Benefit from Using Sauna? Part 2.

We, at believe that saunas, hot and ice baths are pure healing magic. That’s why they have been used by humans for thousands of years.

Today, we would like to share with you our ‘health toys’ that we LOVE using when having a sauna treatment.

Bath (Sauna) Brooms

Bath brooms cleanse the skin, get rid of the toxins, and refresh the body. And as a side effect, add a nice scent of whatever tree is it being made from. Eucalyptus leaves, for example, have anti-inflammatory properties, help alleviate muscle pain, stimulate blood flow and improve detoxification.

Sauna Brushes

When you combine sauna use with dry brushing, you’ll engage your lymphatic system which is vital for absorbing nutrients especially fats and fat soluble vitamins as well as increasing lymphocytes which is our body’s natural defense system.

It will, of course, help along with the detoxification process removing dead skin cells in a way no scrub can whilst stimulating new skin growth so that you glow ;-) like never before!

Massage Stick

A massage stick can also be used for trigger points, deep tissue massage, to combat sore muscles, break up muscular adhesions, and promote blood flow to aid in recovery after workout. It is best to avoid certain areas such as the neck and groin, as the pressure exerted will put certain tissues and nerves at risk.

However, be your own healer and gently massage or press where you feel you need it. It could be your face, scalp or back. There are hundreds of videos on how to use massage sticks.

Sauna Hats

Sauna hats are used to protect your hair from drying and increase your overall comfort in the sauna. The uppermost part of the sauna is usually the hottest and this is where the head tends to be. Wearing a hat helps to keep your head cool, and provides some relief to ears and scalp particularly those with less hair up top.

You can use a wet towel alternatively to achieve the same effect and more! By cooling it off you can prolong your stay in the sauna making your sauna treatment more effective in the process.

How to Get Maximum Benefit from Using Sauna? Part 1.

Saunas, ice and hot baths can be a very relaxing and healing experience for all. However, we, at like to take it to the next level helping you maximize its health benefits for your skin:

Soda Bicarbonate

Have you tried scrubbing skin with baking soda when showering? It has natural antiseptic and antibacterial properties.

Due to its alkaline nature, it will remove all harmful bacteria and fungus that thrive in acidic environments that are created on your skin due to environmental toxins. And rinse your mouth with it too! It will make you feel AMAZING!

Bentonite Clay

Mix it with water and leave it for twenty or so minutes until it absorbs into your skin. Its absorbent power may help treat pimples and oily skin. It will remove a build up of sebum and it may have a calming effect on inflamed breakouts.

Moreover, it may reduce skin infections. And may help your body get more minerals as it contains magnesium, iron, and calcium, just to name a few.

Epson Salts

Epsom salt is a super effective body scrub. After your shower, gently massage wet skin with handfuls of the crystals or simply soak your foot or body in water containing it.

The coarse texture helps wash away dead skin cells, while the anti-inflammatory properties may prevent irritation. Moreover, its magnesium content will make you feel so relaxed so rejuvenated you will want to do it again and again.

But please be aware topical use of Epsom salt is generally considered safe for most people. However, make sure you wash it off completely and do a small test by applying a small amount on your skin to determine if you get any allergic reaction.

Olive Oil

The Most Common Mistakes When Using Saunas

Saunas can be a powerful way to detox and invigorate. That is why they have been used for centuries all over the world. However, there are some common mistakes people make when using them:

1. Not Hydrating Properly

Excessive sweating caused by increased temperatures can lead to dehydration. And... “Drinking too much water can actually cause a condition called water intoxication, in which excess water dilutes out important blood electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium,

Try sipping on water slowly with minerals added to it. We recommend a pinch of Himalayan salt with lime for better detoxification but coconut water can also be a very good option despite its sugar content.

2. Using Sauna Intoxicated

It is best to use saunas in a fasted or semi-fasted state for maximum benefit. However, do your best to avoid using saunas when being intoxicated and by that we don’t just mean consumption of alcohol which in large quantities can be detrimental and even lethal for some.

But also consuming high volumes of sugar can cause your body to increase urination which can lead to severe dehydration and further complications with health.

3. Not Taking Proper Shower

Skin is the largest organ of the body. It absorbs everything. Literally. And if someone does not properly remove body oils, cosmetics and dried skin cells from the body he or she inhibits the body’s ability to effectively detoxify. Clogged pores can cause cystic acne growth due to its inability to release toxins
