Why organic grass fed milk? Is it really worth the higher cost of milk?
From many studies of grass fed milk, they’ve shown that organic grass-fed dairy provides milk significantly higher in beneficial fatty acids and lower in omega-6.
Omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids are both essential human. However, consuming more of omega-6 and less of omega-3 can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, obesity and diabetes. Omega-6 can induce inflammation, while omega-6 and omega-9 can reduce inflammation. Research has shown that consuming organic dairy products, especially organic grass fed milk, lowers dietary intakes of omega-6, while increasing intake of omega-3 and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a heart-healthy fatty acid.
CLA, omega-5 fatty acid , is very popular for weight loss. It also has significant antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties benefiting human health.
Attached here is the research suggested that organic grass fed milk has 62% more omega-3 than non-organic milk and 17% more conjugated linoleic acid (CLA).
