Just a little history about Thailand.

🇹🇭 Map of Siam (Thailand), 1893 AD

During the reign of King Rama V (Chulalongkorn), Thailand was known as Siam and controlled a significantly larger territory than it does today.
This historical map highlights Siam in yellow, showing its administrative structure of dependencies, monthons, and provinces. At the time, Siam’s
influence extended over:

1- Much of present-day Laos
2- Angkor and western regions of Cambodia
3-Northern Malay states including Kedah, Perlis, Kelantan, and Terengganu

Notably, this map represents a moment just before the Franco-Siamese Crisis of 1893 (RS112), after which Siam was forced to cede territories east of the Mekong River to French Indochina—marking a major turning point in the country’s borders.

1. Speeding:
Fine up to 4,000 THB (previously 1,000 THB)
2. Running a red light:
Fine up to 4,000 THB (previously 1,000 THB)
3. Failing to stop for pedestrians at a crosswalk:
Fine up to 4,000 THB
4. Using a mobile phone while driving (without hands-free equipment):
Fine up to 4,000 THB
5. Driving against traffic (wrong way):
Fine up to 2,000 THB (previously 500 THB)
6. Not wearing a helmet (both driver and passenger):
Fine up to 2,000 THB
7. Not wearing a seatbelt (driver and passengers):
Fine up to 2,000 THB
8. Not carrying a driver’s license:
Fine up to 1,000 THB (may also face up to 1 month in jail)
9. Drunk driving:
Fine 5,000 – 20,000 THB and up to 1 year in jail
10. Reckless driving / driving without regard for safety:
Fine 5,000 – 20,000 THB and up to 1 year in jail
