HPV, or human papillomavirus, is a common virus that can cause cancers later in life. HPV has no treatment, but it can be prevented by vaccination. HPV vaccine (Gardasil) is given at the age of 9-45 years, but it is better to get it early. You can get HPV by having va**nal, a**l, or oral s*x with someone who has the virus, even if they don’t have signs or symptoms.

HPV has more than 140 strains that are divided into 2 types:

• High-Risk type of HPV, if it persists for many years, it can lead to cell changes that, if untreated, may get worse over time and become cancer.

• Low-Risk type of HPV, may cause ge***al warts on
ge***al area which can be s*xually transmitted.

HPV can be protected with a vaccine, you may ask further information:

Monkeypox and HIV
CDC continues to monitor monkeypox among people with HIV. People with advanced HIV infection or who are not taking antiretroviral drugs might be at increased risk for severe disease if they get monkeypox.

Monkeypox can spread to anyone through prolonged, close, personal, often skin-to-skin contact, as well as through contact with objects, fabrics (clothing, bedding, or towels), and surfaces that have been used by someone with monkeypox, or contact with respiratory secretions, through kissing and other face-to-face contacts.

Vaccines that are safe for people with HIV are smallpox vaccines. Since these smallpox vaccines may provide protection against monkeypox because smallpox and monkeypox are very similar viruses.

Monkeypox cannot affect the efficiency of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) that works for HIV prevention. It will still be effective and should be continued as prescribed.

How to protect yourself from monkeypox?
•Avoid direct contact with rashes, sores, or scabs on a person with monkeypox, including during intimate contact such as s*x. We believe this is currently the most common way that monkeypox is spreading in the U.S.
•Avoid contact with objects, fabrics (clothing, bedding, or towels), and surfaces that have been used by someone with monkeypox.
•Avoid contact with respiratory secretions, through kissing and other face-to-face contact from a person with monkeypox.

Emergency PEP & PrEP available at Wellmed Bangkok Clinic!

𝗣𝗿𝗘𝗣 (𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗵𝘆𝗹𝗮𝘅𝗶𝘀)

It is an anti-HIV medicine that prevents infection for HIV-negative people. It is taken before having an exposure to infection, and continue until there is no longer a risk.

1. Take PrEP daily, once a day. (or as instructed by your doctor)
2. Do blood tests to follow up the effectiveness of the medication every 3-6 months.
3. It cannot prevent pregnancy or other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, or syphilis. So, you should still use condoms.
4. PrEP may be suitable for you if you really cannot use condoms, or using drugs while having s*x.

𝗣𝗘𝗣 (𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗵𝘆𝗹𝗮𝘅𝗶𝘀)

It is an emergency anti-HIV medicine, for those who are HIV-negative, who recently got a possible exposure.

1. You should take the medicine as soon as possible, and do not exceed 72 hours after exposure.
2. Taking the medicine for 28 days continuously.
3. Follow up with blood tests as recommended by your doctor.

Doubt the exposure and unsure of the risks, you may consult with the doctor immediately and get a blood test right away.

Does STIs affect everyone?

Yes. STIs can occur to anyone who had s*x or any kind of s*xual contact. They can also happen for those having s*x for the first time.

People can pass STIs to others through various bodily fluids (like va**nal secretion, semen, saliva, and blood) that has bacteria or viruses involved.

The ideal way to have a safe s*x is to use a condom, since condom is the only way to prevent both pregnancy and STIs. Other birth control methods will prevent only pregnancy.

People who are s*xually active should have a test for STIs regularly and get a proper treatment whenever results are positive. This will ensure that you prevent STIs from transmitting and causing complications. If you leave them for too long, they can be dangerous.

''Vaginal discharge''

It is a common problems for women.
Vaginal discharge is normal and regularly, it is a healthy bodily function. This is how the body clean and protect your va**na. It occurs to every girls and it happens every month before period. Abnormal discharge may change color into yellow or green, thick texture, or a fishy smell. This may caused by unhealthy body or problems on STD. If you are concern on what could be the result, best way is to do a check-up and talk with a doctor.

Normal Discharge
- It doesn’t have an unpleasant smell

Can I have an STD with no symptoms?

Yes you can, many STDs can stay hidden with no symptoms for years and others may have delayed symptoms. As those who are infected have no symptoms but are still very contagious. The most important thing is for you to get tested and treated as soon as possible.

Pelvic pain, discharge, and lesions may be more obvious symptoms of an STD. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms and are (or have been) s*xually active, it’s important to contact your doctor for a proper management.

Get tested now! Call 061 787 4000

Is it difficult to treat STD?

Well, if you left your STD untreated, these diseases can cause serious complication.

If you are given medication to treat a STD, it is important that you take all of the drug prescribed to you, even if the symptoms go away. Also, do not take someone else's medication to treat your infection it may make it more difficult to treat.

First of all don’t panic, most patient who got STD can be treated, some can be naturally cured and some must get instructions or guide from the doctor first. But the patient must maintain correct way and let the doctor prescribed correctly. Do not buy medications by yourself or randomly use other kinds of medications from others, even if they do have same symptoms but different diseases.

Yes they can. Some STDs only need skin to skin contact to be spread, or through kissing, oral s*x, or even indirect contact. And many people carry the disease without even knowing it.

You can also pass the virus by a contaminated item or contaminated food, such as someone with Hepatitis A preparing your meal. Or by a contaminated towel, because it can survive in damp, moist environments.

Even getting treatment isn't a completely foolproof way to stop STDs from spreading. Some STDs (like herpes or HPV) can stay in a person's body even if that person has been treated.

Also, if someone with Chlamydia or Trichomonas, has been treated and they go away, that same person can still get re-infected if exposed to them another time.

What will you do if your partner’s STD result is positive?

Sexual Transmitted Disease (STD), this disease may pass from person to person in blood, semen, or va**nal and other bodily fluids.

If your partner has STD, you should go get tested as well. Because there is a big possibility that you will also get infected.

If you don't get tested and your partner finishes the treatment, you can continue to pass infections back and forth.

Don’t wait and start to get tested, so that you will be treated right away.

HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) is a s*xually transmitted disease that can cause warts and cancers. It transmits through s*xual or skin-to-skin contact. HPV can be passed even when an infected person has no symptoms. (which is quite common)
There are many types of HPV, but may be divided into 2 groups.
1) High-risk HPV are known to cause cancer, and the two most common types are HPV-16 and HPV-18. (responsible for 70% of cervical cancers, while other high-risk HPV are responsible for the remaining 30%.)
2) Low-risk HPV are not thought to cause cancer, but do cause ge***al warts.
