We are all unique, we all look different when doing Yoga, and that's not only okay but an important detail to understand when practicing Yoga 🙂🙏
As much as we are similar in many ways, we all have different anatomy, different joint and bone structure, and also importantly unique minds. This will result in everyone's Yoga practice looking and feeling different. If you look at these pictures, where there are experienced yogis and inexperienced yogis seen, every single one of the poses have a unique form to them. Even the resting poses are unique 😌 This is not just due to experience, there are plenty of physical differences that lead to this. One person might be what is called "hypermobile" and they will be flexible to the point where they potentially should adjust their practice to actually counter that mobility to prevent injury. Another person may have a long-term knee injury, or just have a hip structure that prevents a particular variation. And so on...
It's important that we both accept and understand our uniqueness and our differences, and how it relates to our practice. Yoga is a beautiful way to help you find balance, make the practice your own, find acceptance, and improve both physical and mental health 🧡 It shouldn't have to come at a cost of injuries and unsafe practices in order to fit a certain aesthetic.
Let's embrace our differences and create a practice that works for us 😊🙏
