Drishti — The Soft Gaze in Practice
Drishti is not staring. It’s a soft, steady gaze—aware of the peripheral, not locked onto one point. This openness allows the body to align from the inside out, and the mind to stay both focused and spacious.

Kim embodies this beautifully. She is driven and goal-oriented, yet she honours the wisdom of time and the power of gradual effort. Just as drishti holds the gaze without force, she holds her intentions with patience—moving forward without losing presence.

In practice and in life, the way we look shapes the way we move.

In Vimala’s presence, there’s a stillness that speaks louder than movement—a kind of quiet that echoes from the inside out. Her practice isn’t just about shapes or technique, though those are there with grace. It’s the light she holds, the spaciousness in her heart, that radiates through every breath and fold.

The structure of the practice offers a framework, but it’s in the personal interpretation where truth lives. She reminds us that yoga is not about conforming, but about listening deeply—to what arises, to what softens, and to what stays.

A luminous expression of inner peace, made visible.

A prop doesn’t make the pose easier —
it brings you closer to what matters.
The block beneath the ribs isn’t just support; it’s a gentle nudge toward awareness.

It invites you to feel where breath meets resistance, where effort can soften.
With the right support, you don’t escape the work — you meet it with more clarity.

You begin to notice the subtle details: a shift in the spine, a wave in the breath, a space you hadn’t felt before. Props help us concentrate not on doing more, but on feeling more.

Trust the process. Trust the way each layer unfolds, one conscious breath at a time.

Practice isn’t about perfection—it’s about precision that respects where you are.

Today, in Bhujapidasana and jump back, Anda showed strong shoulders and core—solid foundations. Tight hip flexors and limited hip rotation slowed the transition, but that’s not a block—it’s a doorway.

With targeted hip-opening, breath, and consistency, lift-off becomes a matter of when, not if. Progress spirals—trust the unfolding.

Trikonasana: The Gateway to Hip Intelligence

Trikonasana is not an easy pose—it’s a foundational asana that reveals how open, stable, and integrated the hips truly are. In Lion Cub, we explore this pose as a key indicator of hip awareness and a stepping stone toward more advanced asana.

In our approach, alignment is everything. Students are guided to observe four primary contact points as a reference:
1. The Hips & Bum – Start by feeling the main hip (usually the front one in the pose) make contact with the wall. Then mindfully draw the secondary hip closer, initiating deep rotational engagement without force.
2. Both Shoulders – Align both shoulders with the wall to reveal the truth of upper body symmetry and prevent collapse in the torso.
3. Rib Cage Neutrality – Soften any protrusion in the ribs. Instead, imagine the kidneys gently pressing into the wall, helping the spine to maintain its natural curve without overarching the lower back.
4. Spinal Integration – This wall-based feedback refines the neutral pelvis and decompresses the lower spine, creating a true hip-opening experience rooted in precision, not performance.

Through this method, students don’t just “do” Trikonasana—they feel it from the inside out.

When a student shared that the practice felt easier, my heart softened. It’s not just about having a good day on the mat—it’s about something within beginning to align.

Ease in practice doesn’t always come from strength or flexibility. It often comes when resistance starts to dissolve. When we stop striving, and start listening. When the body becomes less of a battlefield and more of a doorway.

In that moment, asana stops being a goal and becomes a mirror—reflecting a deeper state of being. One that moves with breath, with presence, and with trust in the unfolding.

the essence of Mysore-style self-practice: students deeply immersed in their own process, each exploring different stages of asana with mindful attention. The use of props like chairs, blocks, and wall support reflects a thoughtful, intelligent approach—one that prioritizes self-awareness and sustainability over performance.

Heart Over Hype : Backbend with purpose, not pressure. Discover your unique curve.

In this workshop, we will explore the what, why, and how of backbending.

Why do we bend? What does it mean to open the front body while strengthening the back?
Why does each body bend so differently—and how can we honor those differences?

Together, we’ll look into key anatomical principles that support safe and sustainable backbending. You’ll be guided through individual exploration to understand your spine, discover your unique range, and develop motivation for a healthy, integrated practice.

We’ll also explore different ways to approach backbending—drawing from both dynamic and therapeutic traditions. Through variations, prop work, breath-centered movement, and mindful transitions, you’ll gain practical tools to meet your backbend from where you are.
